Your argument of "proper socialization" is bullshit because if gays were allowed to adopt children it would become normal, and therefore a child's socialize would be normal. The only thing that needs to happen is for gay's to be accepted as capable and compassionate members of society. The only reason your argument works is because there's still a lot of prejudice towards them. If this were the 50's you could apply this argument to black people by saying something like "Black people shouldn't be allowed to adopt white children because the children wouldn't be properly socialized and they would be looked down upon society." That is probably true, but only because the current situation was so fucked up!
And no, foster care sucks, being an orphan sucks, and if you think they'd be better off being a burden of the state than living in a home with two well off loving parents then you need to think about it some more.
