I looked for a source but was unable to find one. I read an article not to long ago that talked about the trends of generations. While we could debate that we are either in the very end of Gen X. or the very beginning of Gen. Y most of our parents (unless you have younger parents) are Baby Boomers. It basically said that Gen X. has been one of the worst money managing generations ever. Baby Boomers while making more money than the Silent Generation (Great depression had a big impact) was horrible with retirement and saving money. It carried over to Gen X and said Gen X will be even less prepared for retirement than the Baby Boomers who have seemed to heavily rely on Social Security.
However Gen Y they said will probably do better than both because we have had two generations of money mismanagement to learn from. It was all relative but was a really interesting article
