Daybreakers is a movie I watched a couple weeks ago and it's not that great. The concept is fantastic, it's basically in a world where almost everyone is a vampire, and instead of hiding in the shadows and attacking people in alleys, they live out normal lives and their food comes from farming the remaining humans for blood. However, they're running out of humans (they're dying or something) and there is a huge blood shortage (think if there was suddenly lno food for anyone). Except that instead of just dying of starvation, you turn into one of these things:

And some humans approach a vampire hematologist (Ethan Hawke) with a "cure" so they can go back to being human again. They took a great concept and fucked it up terribly, it was a horrible movie IMO. If you aren't planning on seeing it (a course of action I would suggest), spoilers below.

First off, if all the humans are dying, I don't know why they just don't breed more humans. They clearly have the technology for in-vitro fertilization, I don't know why they wouldn't do that, but whatever. There are at least 2 major deux ex machinas in the plot. One of which is that the "cure" is actually just exposing a vampire to just enough sunlight, then quenching the fire, then they turn human. That's it. The way to turn a vampire back into a fucking human is by almost killing it with its biggest weakness. The only analogy I can think of right now would be like giving somebody just enough extra cancer to cure them. Pretty dumb imo. The other one is that when a vampire bites someone who has been "cured", that blood causes them to get all sick and turn back into human as well, thus creating a chain reaction like so:

1. Human turns into vampire via ratbite or something
2. Vampire goes into sunlight, then gets out of sunlight
3. Vampire turns back into human
4. Other starving vampires see human and suck his blood
5. Starving vampire turns back into human
6. Repeat steps 4 & 5
7. ????
8. SALVATION OF THE HUMAN RACE!

Psychedelics are illegal not because a loving government is concerned that you may jump out of a third story window. Psychedelics are illegal because they dissolve opinion structures and culturally laid down models of behavior and information processing.
