Those two were meant to be different facts. The first was simply saying that temperature readings are taken in cities, which are hotter than non-cities. The second was in reference to a particular study, which I can't remember where it was from. Most of the stuff I've said comes from a book I have from an international natural resources class I took. It's not really a "book" so much as it is a collection of journal articles and chapters from books the professor compiled together and bound in a book. It also comes from lecture notes from Dr. Paul Chandler, who was probably the best professor I've ever had. If I find time I'll try to review some of that stuff to make things more clear.
