Awesome pictures and a great write-up.
Two thoughts:
1. I can't help but think it's in the best interest of you and the dog to get him deballed.
2. I'll bet he gets squirrely + needy after a disciplining yet still does it again bc he can't connect the dots on why he's being yelled at. In other words, you're not really disciplining the dog, you're just kind of scaring him and he's unsure why. That's just a theory, though. Obviously I don't have as much information at hand regarding how much the dog picks up on as yourself.
