Humanity is bored. We weren't meant for all this. We were meant for the excitement of the hunt or be hunted lifestyle. That's why anyone worth their salt uses drugs now: because they can and because it's better than the hum-drum lifestyle that is the sober modernly developed human. This is why we all secretly love doomsday/zombie shit: it teases us into thinking we might be able to get back to our primal roots. I know I could do without the weed or alcohol if we ever got there.
