What kind of zombies are we talking about?
Fast zombie or slow zombie? Some zombies like in Dawn of the Dead are super strong and can do things like tear off a limb; while other zombies only have an average human strength.
What caused the Zombieism outbreak?
If it was magic, radiation or some sort of divine intervention it may not be as contagious as if it was a disease of some sort.
Are the zombies smart?
Can they use tools and weapons? Do they communicate with each other or with humans? For that mater, are they even zombies? In Resident Evil 4 and 5 as well as 28 Days Later they weren't actually zombies, and in the case of RE they were fully capable of weapons use and communication.
These are all important things to keep in mind. It could be the difference of needing a bio suit and AK-47 or plate mail and chainsaw.
