Indeed, it's not, yet we don't see a ridiculous amount of safe, responsible logging going on (without government regulation). And I find it hard to believe these companies would spend a ridiculous amount of money making sure they aren't wreaking havoc on the soil and replanting trees if legislation didn't
make them.
