I don't know if anyone else follows this stuff. Most of what I've read has been in the NYT, which seems to have had political axes to grind in the topic. But the stories coming out of the mexican drug wars are straight out of hollywood. Rival drug cartels, supermodel trophy wives, corrupt cops... there is a well-known pack of crooked ex-black-ops thugs called the Zetas that controls half the cities. It's ridiculous.
