I'm pretty sure he died, too, which I'm glad about. I hated him in many ways.

I guess that's where I get a little sketchy. I'm not sure if he ran before the big guys put it in the mail or after. Also, if Ted had already deposited Skylar's check into his bank account, Walt's money would be lost forever.
