Your choice, but I do have to correct you there --the type of meditation I do is focusing on not thinking all the time -- it's basically training for concentration and thinking about nothing at all. You focus on your breath, in and out, the entire time -- you don't think about anything else. It's extraordinarily relaxing and really does help to clear out the mind, but it's very difficult to do.

Mindfulness is simply a state of open, nonjudgmental, and nondiscursive attention to the contents of consciousness, whether pleasant or unpleasant. Cultivating this quality of mind has been shown to modulate pain, mitigate anxiety and depression, improve cognitive function, and even produce changes in gray matter density in regions of the brain related to learning and memory, emotional regulation, and self awareness.
If you want to change your thought and behavior patterns, I'm sorry to say it, but starting from inside your mind is the only way you're doing to do it. That's all I'll say on that, but getting out more and socializing will also definitely help.

Psychedelics are illegal not because a loving government is concerned that you may jump out of a third story window. Psychedelics are illegal because they dissolve opinion structures and culturally laid down models of behavior and information processing.
