Satoshi Nakamoto's paper that started Bitcoin is really helpful for understanding how the system works. I don't get a lot of the technical details displayed in the charts as to how the chain functions but the emphasis on how attackers are a threat to the model and how the model diminishes the risk of attacks is interesting.
