So you suspect it is something about organic compounds/biological matter is the key to consciousness? That is very interesting if so because I don't think I have seen the question structured this way. That is a very legitimate argument I think.
If that is true, you would have to admit there is some kind of a "magical" element to biological/organic matter that allows for consciousness to develop.
