I've done some research and it seems that actually all vertebrates are born with at least 2, but many with 4 or more! Especially goats.

Regardless of the number, the original riddle is still valid. If you/they ever lose just one, you'll live [likely]. But, if you lose 'em all--adios motherfucker.
