Yesterday, the USA Today released a front page article about the NSA tracking the phone records of tens of millions of Americans in the United States. This has all members of politics in an uproar over the classic battle of freedom vs. security. Defenders say we are using it for intelligence over Al Quida, while opponents scream that Big Brother is among us. What are your thoughts?

There's a Benjamin Franklin quote that I think is perfect in this situation: "Any society that would give up a little liberty to gain a little security will deserve neither and lose both."
f3lix I gotta be honest, while the enthusiasm in which you broadcast your political views is often annoying, I gotta admit; I'm starting to understand where you're coming from more and more. |

they should let the American public participate in national security, not volunteer them by eaves dropping on telephone calls. However we're fortunate to not be living in the UK, I read an article in 2600 where they have camera’s watching the license plates on cars. If you have any history of drug trafficking or use, they’ll pull you over just b/c they feel like searching your car. From what I understood this is only in select parts of London and they hope to move RFID tags to the plates so they can track them more efficiently.
