The Elms - The Big Suprise
I won the cd of the same title (signed) by this very little known group a while ago. I had kinda put the cd to the side for a while... but recently I listened to it, and I fell in love with this song... Get it. |
Kansas - Carry On My Wayward Son
I seriously can't get this fucking song out of my head. Went to the concert last night with pliedes and a few friends, and it was rockin. This is one of their most popular tunes, and it's not hard to see why. |
alright chuck... as long as we are on the topic of kansas:
kansas - dust in the wind i know that this song may seem a little bit hokey to some of our more down to earth music lovers here, but the violin solo is quite possibly the most catchy violin solo i have ever heard, except for maybe the one in trippin billies by dmb. and as i have not posted anything for quite some time in here: collective soul - the world i know if you are ever having a bad day, this one ought to bring you right out of that funk and make you stop feeling sorry for yourself. |
Download of the Day: Gomez-We Haven't Turned Around
Titan, Combat, and pliedes...try to get this one. I think you'll like it. Very progressive rock-ballad housed on the American Beauty Soundtrack. Pretty song. -Ugly Bastard |
"Clocks" by Coldplay
This song is basically one huge orgy of sound in my humble opinion, and is a great song to hear no matter what mood you happen to be in. |
Low - Over the Ocean (Actually, just get anything by Low that you can find)
Most of you will probably think this, and most every thing else by Low, is horribly slow and boring... but I find it to be extremely calming and peaceful. Check it out if you like. [This message has been edited by rla128 (edited February 15, 2003).] |
The Bloody Cum Bubbles- Fist; verb
or anything else you can find by them. they are simply amazing. |
Geggy Tah - Whoever You Are
I'm proud to say that I had heard this song, thanks to my sister who heard it on a mix cd, before it was on the car commercial. And dang, if it isn't one catchy song. Combat Chuck: You doof...
quote:
Originally posted by Combat Chuck: Lessee here.... Dispatch - The General Kevin Green and I perform this song on our live set, and it's a favorite.

[This message has been edited by rla128 (edited February 16, 2003).] |
Dispatch - The General
It's funny how I haven't recommended this song before, seeing as how it's one of my favorites, and one of my favorite songs to play as well. Good stuff, and a cool look at war. |
Download of the Day: Four Non Blondes-What's Going On?
Best female-created song of the 90's in my opinion. -Ugly Bastard |
Download of the Day: Spin Doctors-Two Princes
Another classic from the early 90's. Spin Doctors kick ass. -Ugly Bastard |
Prodigy - Weather Experience
My fave Prodigy song. Goes from quiet ambience, to hard hitting sounds from nowhere. Expertly captures nature in music, in my opinion. |
Café Tacuba - Tropico De Cáncer
I know, it's spanish... but dang if it isn't good. This is yet another group my sister introduced me to. I believe they're right out of Mexico City. Anyways, it's really good stuff. And since you can't get it all too easily... sorry, but the free server I use sucks... if anyone wants to host a file for me, let me know. [This message has been edited by rla128 (edited February 17, 2003).] |
Socialburn - Rain on Me...
|
From Autumn to Ashes - Eulogy for an Angel
This is the extreme in the emotional music, the elements of hardcore with classical underlays give me wood. |
"Strange Condition" by Pete Yorn
Although fairly well-known, if this song appeses your every desire, as it is sure to do, you should definitly check out anything you can on this guy if you haven't already. Seriously, you bunch of jews, you'll be glad you did... |
Download of the Day: Coheed and Cambria-Devil In Jersey City
Really cool boarderline-punk song. Has this whole 80's feel to it. Chuck would like. -Ugly Bastard |
Download of the Day: Greenwheel - "breathe"
cant go wrong with this band this was their debut single if you've heard it, play it again. [This message has been edited by St. Anky (edited February 18, 2003).] |
The (International) Noise Conspiracy - Smash It Up
This song just seems to scream....vintage. Good stuff, and fun to bop your head to. |
Coldplay - Trouble
This is one of those songs that you hear parts of in the background of television shows... well, I remember it being played during one at least. And in a Coldplay-downloading frenzy lately, I discovered it... and its good. Git it! |
rla- Coldplay kicks ass.
DotD= Nirvana-Lithium ------------------ ~The Comedian~ |
Eh, rla128, it can never hurt to recommend it again. It's a fucking great song. http://nubblies.blueoptic.com/ubb/smilies/winky.gif
Alright, for today, I'm going to go with: Blind Melon - Mouthful of Cavities You might recognize the name Blind Melon, and you should. They have a radio hit....ah damn, forget what it is at the moment, but if anyone remembers the name, recommend that song too. Anyway, this song is great, and the female harmonizations are fucking stellar. |
Gary Jules - Mad World
This song I originally heard in the movie Donnie Darko (great movie), and dang if it isn't one good song. |
Download of the Day: Ludacris-Growing Pains
This was recommended to me by Titan via ICQ, and I have had it playing over and over on repeat for the last two hours. -Ugly Bastard |
Plumb - Phobic
One of the very few Christian groups that I actually like. The main singer is a girl with quite the pretty voice. This song is rather slow... but I find it to be rather beautiful. There's not a lot of sources for it available... but it's there. Give it a listen. |
Download of the Day: Elton John-I Guess That's Why They Call It The Blues
Classic song. -Ugly Bastard |
David Mead - World Of A King
I put this guy in the same category that I place Ben Folds in, and he's as good as Folds, so check it out. |
Here's a funny one for you all. Well, maybe it's just weird... but, anyways...
Cork and the Juice Pigs - Dolphin Boy |
Download of the Day:
Phish- Wading in a Velvet Sea I freakin love this song. Not to mention the fact that it has one helluva great guitar solo in it. |
David Gray - Caroline
This is off his new album, and a very very catchy song. Very. |
For a morsel of what this guy can offer:
"Heat" by 50 cent, of his new album Get Rich or Die Tryin |
Pedro the Lion - Priests and Paramedics
Yeah, it is rather depressing music..... but dang, it's good. [This message has been edited by rla128 (edited February 22, 2003).] |
Gosh
[This message has been edited by rla128 (edited February 22, 2003).] |
Dangit
[This message has been edited by rla128 (edited February 22, 2003).] |
You know, Pedro the Lion seems to be a good band for me to pick something out of too.
Pedro The Lion - Magazine This one isn't one of his more depressing or slow songs. It's got some neat elements to it that make the song for me. |
Bob Dylan - All Along the Watchtower
Classic. |
REmy Zero - Save Me
Not sure if this song is on the radio because I usually don't listen to the radio, but this is a great song that should be on the radio. I know that I've heard it around, but I'm not sure where. Anyway, check it out. |
I don't know if I've seen much Dave on here, which is surprising considering the postees up in this...but perhaps everyone wants to exhibit their less-mainstream favorites. Nonetheless, Dave is my fav. artist to listen to. Period.
D.M.B. "Burn the Pig" >>>Mi-Py<<< [This message has been edited by Mighty Python (edited February 23, 2003).] |
Download of the Day: Bone Thugs n' Harmony - Ghetto Cowboy
Quite possibly the "peeump"est rap song of all time. Its impossible to listen to and not want to learn all of the words. |
Switchfoot - Learning to Breathe
Quite possibly the best song you've never heard of... At least I like to think so. This group is quite possibly my favorite group. They just recently got signed onto Colombia Records, and have a new cd, The Beautiful Letdown, coming out tomorrow! |
Download of the Day: Alan Jackson-Where Were You (When The World Stopped Turning)
A tribute song to September 11th. Very pretty song. -Ugly Bastard |
Simon and Garfunkel - [i]The Boxer[/b]
In honor of their reunion last night on the Grammy's. I do believe that this is the first time that they have performed together since 1993. Big stuff folks. Anyway, I'm sure everyone has this song, but if you don't, WHY NOT!?! |
Overseer Supermoves
The hardassiest electronic thing you will hear. |
Since I'm kinda in a classic mood...
The Who - Babo O'Riley This song makes me squeal. |
Phish - Farmhouse
I think this song is pretty good... So I guess that means you should get it, or something. |
Blind Melon Change
This is one of the most beautiful soulful songs ever created. God I miss Shannon, he's such a musician. Blind Melon No Rain Download a live version if you can find one... I just found one... it rules so much, Shannon does some kickass melodicizing on it... woodawgy. It's even got sitar in it... man this rules. [This message has been edited by Titan (edited February 26, 2003).] |
REM - End of the World
Classic. |
Titan, No Rain is the Blind Melon song that I was trying to think of in my previous post. Thanks for recommending that puppy.
Anyway, on to my recommendation. The Delgados - The Drowning Years This is such a fantastic song by a band I just discovered. Excellent stuff. Check it out. Now. |
Radiohead - Knives Out
One of the quintessential radiohead songs. Just all around kick ass. There are many songs that give you a certain feelings, but this works for many emotions, but I'm usually more unsure than anything... Amazing. |
From Autumn to Ashes - Short Stories with Tragic Endings
Evanescence - Bring me to Life...yeah good stuff. |
