I'm pulling this off the top of my head so I'm probably leaving out some good ones, but favorite characters from TV shows:
Omar from The Wire ![]() Omar Little is maybe the greatest character ever made for anything ever. If you have never sat down and watched The Wire from start to finish, every episode, you don't know what TV is. This is the best character on the best show ever made. All he does is rob drug dealers. He is so feared that the drug dealers give him their drugs/money when they see him coming, no questions asked. Little kids want to be Omar when they grow up. I want to be Omar when I grow up. Omar fuckin' Little. Johnny "Drama" Chase from Entourage ![]() Entourage is tremendous. It's Saved By the Bell for grown-ups. It's Sex in the City for men. And on a show with many tremendous characters, Johnny Drama is near the top. He is so raw. Kevin Dillon was born to play this role. When Drama hurts, you hurt. When Drama falls to his knees, puts his hands in the air, and screams, "VICTORY!!!", you too want to scream Victory. Drama is your emotional surrogate to this show. Ari Gold from Entourage ![]() If someone said that Jeremy Piven's characterization of Ari Gold is the greatest thing ever to happen to a television set, I wouldn't argue with them. Award shows need to be cancelled because of this character. It's not even worth competing with. Just cancel the show, give him all of the awards, and move on. Don Draper from Mad Men ![]() I was about 30 seconds into s01e01 of Mad Men when I said to myself, "holy shit, this guy is awesome!" Don Draper aka Dick Whitman aka the Boss. If you've never watched Mad Men, you don't know what you're missing. I want to start smoking cigarettes because Don motherfucking Draper smokes them. Yea I'm definitely missing some really good ones, but this'll do for starters. |

This is a good post and a good thread in general. Your selection though...I dunno.
You failed to mention that Omar is also a dick-riding faggot. I mean it's cool if you want to suck cock when you grow up, but I feel that Omar's preference for man seed in his mouth takes far more away from his badassness than his drug-dealer robbing adds to it. |

Good choices, especially Omar. And I wholeheartedly agree that if you've never seen the Wire then you're missing out on some of the greatest television ever.
I like complex characters. Life is complex and humans are dynamic beings. Television tends to simplify, but once in a while there's one that you can actually relate to because he or she is, on some level, as complex as you are. Omar and Don are very much those characters. Johnny maybe, Ari not so much. But maybe that's just me. Of course it works both ways, sometime there's depth in simplicity. I'd submit that Homer Simpson is more American than a bald fucking eagle. |

Jesus! How could I forget Cartman?
Another one: Bubbles from The Wire ![]() Probably ~6 of my top 15 favorite TV show characters of all time are from The Wire. Bubbles is near the top of the list. A hairon addict, Bubbles is one of the most enduring characters of the show. He is easy to root for from the moment you are introduced to him. He's a hairon addict, so yes, he has his problems, but Bubbles' moral character is rivaled by virtually no one else on the show. His street savvy gives him value to police for whom he is an informant in exchange for money and special consideration during beefs with the law. Bubbles shows how being a hairon addict is not grounds on which to write someone off from society. |

Randy Marsh is definitely one of my favorite TV characters.
The best Randy Marsh episode, and arguably one of the best south park episodes, is where Randy gets drunk at all the boys' little league games, takes his shirt off, and challenges other dads to fight by asking them, "what do you wanna do?" |

Holy fuck how could I forget that one. There is also the one where he and Kyle's dad jerk off in the spa together, and the one where his alcoholism is a disease (which I believe needs to be cured by the virgin mary who is bleeding out of her ass).

How about the Randy Marsh episode where he took his family to the only place that still had Internet, California, and blew a huge load all over himself whacking it to porn when they got there?
