Default Mr. Blonde Financial Facepalm

Blonde posted a very obvious fact of life, admitting he had not known prior how the tax system worked. This is hard to fathom since he has held a job before and as a working, voting, college educated citizen, it should be his responsibility to know where his money goes to when he's working.

25001 - 50000 is taxed at 15% - This means 3750 of tax.
50001 - 100000 is taxed at 20%. - this means $0.20 of tax.
Had you made one dollar less you would have paid $0.20 less tax, but taken home $0.80 less.
This is how the United States tax system works for standard earned income. Earning more money does not retroactively tax you. Again, this does not hold true for capital gains, they operate differently.
.I just heard this today. Is this truly how it works??? If so, why is this fact not commonly recognized?
This show of ignorance could have been forgiven; however, in the face of being reassured by several other educated people, that yes, this indeed was common knowledge, in defense of himself, he continued to imply many other people probably didn't know this either. He then linked to a random post on a website call Reddit, a site commonly known for it's ignorant and absent minded user base, from someone who for all we know could be a 12 year old.

This is why I strongly believe that people should have to pass a basic knowledge test to be able to vote. Yes, it would probably prevent a lot of minorities and other people with disorders of the autistic spectrum from voting. But if they are ignorant of the way things currently are, they don't really know what impact what they are voting for will have.

A test would prevent people from voting on whosoever campaign "feels good" at the moment. Voting would really be about the issues.

For all intensive purposes, please discuss.
