Alright folks, here's what you've been clamoring for. The very first Nubblies Short Story Contest thread.
Here's what's gonna go on down.
This thread will not be designated as the place for you to post your stories. If you do post your story in this thread, I will call up a professional disemboweler to disembowel you. What you will do in this thread is sign up.
Just give a shout out here, then get to work on your storyism. It's as easy as that.
However, there are some guidelines.
There will be a deadline. By the end of September (that's 30 days from now folks....30 days) we must have all submissions in. There will be no extension. None of us feel like waiting around for you to perfect your wannabe magnum opus, so get your damn ass to work, and submit your gem.
Other than that, there are no rules. Your story can be about anything, anyone, anywhere, any time. Sounds easy right? Wrong. Try to make these something that you've put some thought into. Remember, this is Nubblies. We aren't your English teacher. We will make fun of you if your story sucks.
When you do get your gem done, in order to make it all official, take your story, and post it as:
Nubblies Short Story Contest: Entry #(insert your number here)
Your number will be designated here in the Start-Up thread, according to your sign-up. At the end of the month, we will do the voting by your number. We hope to get as many people involved here. If you don't have time to write a story, just make sure to make time to read all the stories that have been submitted. We need to get a hefty vote tally going here, so don't just slack and read a few. You have a month folks. It's not that hard.
Your new thread will also be the only place where people can comment on your story. I believe that making seperate threads for each story is the best way to go, making sure that we don't get one thread bogged down with comments and stories, questions and bullshit posts.
If you submit a story, you cannot vote. You can comment, but you cannot vote. It's just that plain and simple.
Alright, let the signing up begin. I have already made signed up, so I designate my number to be #1. That doesn't mean anything other than I was the first to sign up.
