Beer is volume. Rate/tolerance is based more on physical size and stomach capacity.
Whiskey, on the other hand- a man's drink- will get you pissed whether yr small or large, give a consistent drunk, and lead to much more hilarious results.
In my opinion, a much better yardstick.
