Kurzweil is generally regarded as the Deepak Chopra of futurism/computer and information systems by the scientific community. UB sent me a book of his back in like 2007, and I couldn't get past maybe one chapter before deciding most of his ideas, while good ideas in theory (many of them borrowed), are pretty far-fetched for so near in the future.
