I haven't downloaded in prob over a year, too. I don't like a lot of stuff, so for the artists that I do like, I'm happy to pay for their music.
As far as your problem goes, I have a iPod hookup for my car that inserts into the dc adapter and outputs through an fm frequency of your choosing. CD sound quality is better, but the convenience of all your music on one device outweighs this difference imo.
