I suggest you all start making cd's now if you are driving on spring break, I am starting mine right now.

A few songs of the top of my head are
Jerry Reed - East Bound and Down (Smokey and the Bandit theme)
Rolling Stones - Start me up
Stone Temple Pilots - Interstate love song
Metallica - Fuel

Those are just ones that having something driving related in the title, obviously you should just have a bunch of music that you like, but what are your suggestions?

StabMaster Arson 03-08-2005 01:59 PM

Hank III- 87 Southbound
RHCP- Road Trip
Willie Nelson- On the Road Again
Arlo Guthrie- City of New Orleans
AC/DC- Highway to Hell

Rancid's first Cd
Pantera's Cowboys from Hell
Me First and the Gimme Gimme's when/if things get tense

nofx - the fucking decline.

it's the only 18 minute long punk song. it's the absolute companion to anybody who will be driving anytime soon for a long way because it's just fucking awesome. no other way to put it. plus, the lyrics will make you hate every other person around your car, which in turn will make your driving experience more fun when you pump fake people with your car. oh fucking yeh.

George Sherman 03-08-2005 05:16 PM

fuck ya dude, pump faking motherfuckers with your car is the shit.

THEINCREDIBLEdork 03-08-2005 05:19 PM

led zeppelin - ramble on
Paul simon & garfunkle - mrs robinson

I like to listen to Primus or the Dead Milkmen on long road trips, I don't know why, you just kinda get lost in their oddness.

It pains me to hear you say that. I have much love for metallica but they should never remake a classic like that one. Please do yourself a favor and download Bob Seagers Turn the Paige..

In my experience the best way to pass time while driving is to listen to music without words. Get something that will act as a catylist for your driving and daydreaming, let it play... and work yourself into a great driving trance, whether it be classical, hip hop beats, or electronic music, they all seem to work equally well, as long as you don't become distracted by lyrics.

Cocktooth 03-08-2005 10:11 PM

im going to say you probably shouldnt do that, due to the small fact that could cause an accident. Lyrics normally keep people focused on driving yet listening to music experiance the whole road trip theme. Beats would make a person in a trance like state causing them to daydream maybe to much while behind the wheel

DJ FC 03-08-2005 10:34 PM

I would argue quite the contrary, Mr. Shaw.

Driving is not, in my humble oppinion, an effort of your imedite consciousness, rather an inate dance of your mental and physical capacities (I've actually been planning on posting an article about how amazing it is that humans are able to drive a vehicle with such consumate skill).

Driving, at its purest and finest level, is purely reactionary. Your eyes put together an "image" of what is going on around you in your brain, but this image contains such detailed information as angle, velocity, and vehicle size. You don't realize you are processing this information constantly, and to try to bring it to forward consciousness would be mind-boggleing.

The less distractions your mind is delt with (lyrics), the greater your attention to the road, at least from my experience.
