A friend is someone who will bail you out after doing something really stupid without giving you too much shit for it. A real friend is the type who will drive a couple hours just to hang out after your heart gets handed to you on a platter by some crazy ass bitch.

A friend will bail you out of jail. A best friend will be sitting next to you saying, "that was fucking awesome!".
I'm pretty sure that's one of those things that I read in somebody's icq info. |

Fruit,
Spent a little time thinking about this one. I think there's a single word that describes a lot of what we're saying here about friendship. And although Trust is almost the keystone, something has to keep it alive when it falters. Dedication. |

I'm sticking with
trust. An abused girlfriend stays with their boyfriend because she feels dedication to something that once may have existed. I'd say the girlfriend doesn't 'trust' the boyfriend. I know I certainly wouldn't. Is it truly worth anything? I guess so. Just not from my perspective Dedication is a byproduct of trust, if it exists. |

Actually I was set to thinking about this a little more the other day, and I've come to the conclusion that humility is the key to friendship in my opinion. Humility doesn't get any recognition these days. I think people need to go beyond themselves sometimes if they really want to learn anything about themselves.

Fruitacious,
I Love it. (Great post). I think humility allows us the ability to be the kind of friend we need to be for different people at different times. Humility deconstructs our barriers so we can say "Yes." to our friend, rather than scoff at "How?" "Sometimes being a friend is being the only supporter on your friend's side. Humility lets me walk over to be counted on her side when all that she and I agree on, is the fact, we're friends." That was something I dregged up from my old writings. Thought it captured the idea pretty well. |

A friend is someone you would do anything for. Who you will help no matter what, and someone you can talk to honestly and openly about anything.
