We already have this, it's called the download of the day thread. A compilation needs a theme, thats the whole basis of a compilation, otherwise you just want a cd-r with random songs on it.

Alright pliedes. So why can't our theme be "Some Of Our Favorite Songs" or some shit like that.

Basically, if you haven't caught on, I don't think our choices should be limited too much. Like, if you make it a song that defines us as a member, I wouldn't be able to pick "Imagine", because I don't see myself as much of an imaginitive person....see what I'm saying.

It should just be songs that we like, that way we don't have to worry about what the songs are actually saying.

Are you trying to help build a compilation or just super excited about Imagine?

I agree with Titan and pliedes.

One major (and I mean major) thing to making a compilation CD work, is that there must be a flow, a feel for what's going on in the CD. The CD ultimately does convey a message.

I see a ton of compilations that consist of random songs that someone piled off of a computer and threw onto a CD. They suck. They have no meaning to the listener, they just play a bunch of songs.

We need this to be a representation.

So here's my idea. Let's all pick our songs, and then Titan, me, pliedes, and tonguegina will all sit down one night and figure out if it will work. If it doesn't we will take out songs that we feel obstruct the flow, and save them for future compilations that will benefit from its presence. We will notify the user who picked the song, and if they don't want the song taken out, then we will go back and see if it will work again.

What I'm saying is, don't restrict yourself. We are willing for give and take here. But be prepared for your first choice being 'rejected'. I hate sounding so brash in that case, but it works.

Any revisions? Does this sound good? I'm just acting as a sound off here folks.

Anyone who wants to be in the board of music directors can.

However, we really won't be needing to take any songs out from the first CD because it will either be a representation of Nubblies CD or a CD that Ugly Bastard can put "Imagine" on.

The board of music directors will have to decide the flow of the album though... which will be very tough... me and pliedes can't always agree... it's going to be tough with many members... of course, weight can be shifted and sacrifices will be made.

It's super cockslutish to take songs out once placed it. You can't have such a method of censorship, that destorys the variety of the album. If I think a song by eminem would be great on a love ablum (and I can justify it) then it should damn well be on there. The only exception to this would be if there were more than 15 (or however many songs) submissions by different members, then a few would be weeded out, but only them.

If you want a group to work on it, make a work night where anyone can come help, but you should lead the group since this is your idea.

Maybe I'm just not adjusted to this yet, but it seems as though this thing got out of hand really quickly.

I mean, honestly...a board of members out there deciding if my song is good enough to be on the CD? Whatever...

But anywho, there's been a lot of talk about "having a theme" for every compilation CD. And I being one who doesn't like to take four years to complete one simple task, let's move on, and come up with a theme.

My proposal for the first compilation CD's theme, would be: (something along the lines of) "Nubblies' Members Favorite Songs" (this could be tweaked...but you get the idea). Then if we have/for future compilations, we could make it more narrow with themes such as "Favorite Oldie" "Songs That Make Us Want To Kill People" "Songs That Make Us Want To Have Sex"

etc etc etc.

So yeah...someone on the ever-so distinguished "board of members" let us know what you think...

I don't think there should and will be a 'board of members' or whatever. You pick a night when you're going to work on it, and whoever shows up will help, thats how it should be.

Using 'favorite songs' isn't really giving the compilation much of a theme; it's still a bunch of fairly random songs with little connection. I like your other ideas though, of themes such as music to kill to or lovin' music.

Everyone needs to realize that by giving a theme to it, you're not limiting genre's or musical tastes, you're just tying all the songs together and giving purpose to the album.

Here's another idea. I think we'll inevitably end up making a compilation of good lovin' music. When we do, we need to then have each member test it out with his woman, and gauge how much it helps them... it'd be fun to see if it'd have an impact.

I'd settle for 'favourite tunes' for the first one, just to satisfy people, but I still think it'll end up being worthless except for ripping to the computer for the songs I like.
Now when we do an comp with a good theme, a cd that I might actually spin and use, then I'm excited.

Alright, I've already started to come up with some ideas for songs for other possible compilations. I think some great ideas that have already been put forth are definitely:

Nubblies Rep (songs to represent your Nubblies self)
Nubblies Love (songs to make love to)
Nubblies Hate (songs to make hate to)
Nubblies Drive (songs to drive to)

I think these will probably be the most important of the ones we come up with...

Alright, so in order for this tihng to work, everyone who is interested in putting a song onto the first compilation (Fav. Songs) needs to submit a favourite (or extremely well-liked by you) song. We might as well make this first come first serve I guess... so far I think we have 9 people that have postorized to be included.

As far as the realisticality of this thing looking professional... it'll probably end up being black and white copies of a two sided cd sleeve in a slim jewel case... we just don't have funds or the organizational capacity to make it any better. That probably won't facilitate any descriptions by Nubblites or any lyrics of songs, so when this starts we could just make a thread that is only used to post a big thing about each compilation. We could have a nice organized thing about each song submitted by each user, but most people will be lazy and it will probably boil down to anyone who wants to post about their song (description, lyrics, etc) will. Eh?

So far here's what we've got:

UB, I hadn't really designed the 'board of directors' to be a fascist regime....it was more designed towards facilitating production. Sorry if I caused some misunderstanding.
