I don't usually pay much attention to art, but I was at my dentist yesterday where there was a painting hanging in the reception area that stopped me in my tracks. For a brief moment, everything around me was tuned out as I gawked in appreciation and awe at this piece of art. It was like a mini spiritual experience. I guess I can better understand why people are into art now.

Unfortunately, I cannot find an image of the painting anywhere online. It's done by a woman named Kathleen Kinkopf. I contacted her via Facebook and even she was unable to produce an image of it. It's called "May I Have This Dance". Double pos-reps to anyone who can find a picture of it online.

I've looked at more of her work online (website, Google image results). I don't think I saw anything that I like more than what is hanging my dentist's office, but here are a few that came pretty close for me:

It might be helpful to include a general description of the subject matter of the painting in question.

I'm not a big fan of art as in paintings and that type of stuff, but I certainly appreciate the work of fine craftmanship in a piece of wood or other crafting material.

I only own one real piece of art. When I was in Greece I stumbled upon a cool art store that created very high quality reproductions of Greek art. A very large amount of their selection was devoted to Greek Orthodox Icons. I had no intention of buying anything, especially something bulky, but I saw this and had to buy it and have it shipped to London:

St. George Slaying the Dragon

The icon is hand painted on wood and the materials used are authentic to an original Greek Orthodox icon, including gold leaf around the heads of the Holy.

Ahh, yes. Good suggestion. I wrote the OP when I assumed I'd be able to find an image of the painting I liked and then never edited it to reflect the fact that I didn't.

The painting features a side profile of a blue woman (not too unlike Avatar) from the shoulders up. In place of her skull is what I interpreted to be a garden growing out of her mind. It's somewhat similar to the second from last pic in the OP only way more awesome.
