Wow, UB I never thought of you as a fairweather fan. I guess the move has messed with your sports heart. I began moving a legand into marriedhood, and now I have to realize the fact that a sports fan legand has moved into a fair weather fan. To think I was a fan of UB. Guess I will have to change my fanhood!

Fuck the Cubs.
Luckily for you, my liking them isn't a pre-req for you liking them. After all, you're a sports fan legend. I'll take a picture of my towering stacks of benjamins when the A's win the World Series. SHIP IT ONE TIME PLZ?!??! |

I remember back when the cubs made their run and were 5 outs from the World Series. UB was sitting at my house while we played cards, I was a moderate cubs fan at the time, nothing near what I am today. He was nervous and so excited to see the Cubs play and to turn his back on them and say "Fuck the Cubs". Wow, just wow.
Its alright anybody who can go to Wrigley and sit in the bleachers and still say "fuck the cubs" has major problems, its the greatest franchise in all of professional sports by a long shot. |

A franchise that can be so bad for so many years, and still have the following they have should be considered a great FRANCHISE. Granite, WGN has a huge factor in that, as it is shown throughout the U.S. As a franchise, it is one of the greats in all of sports.

TBS covers the Braves and they don't have half the following the Cubbies do. When I say great I'm not referring to winning as in great. I'm referring to fanbase, atmosphere, stadium, and overall following. The Cubbies are probably the second (or third) most followed team in professional sports. I could see it argued that only the Yankees and possibly the Red Sox have a bigger following.

![]() The basis of our governments being the opinion of the people, the very first object should be to keep that right; and were it left to me to decide whether we should have a government without newspapers, or newspapers without a government, I should not hesitate a moment to prefer the latter. But I should mean that every man should receive those papers and be capable of reading them. ![]() Last edited by DJ FC; 04-21-2008 at 05:02 AM. |

I was going to say United States as I knew the European soccer clubs have bigger followings.
I still don't see near the number of cowboy and packer fans at opposing stadiums. On any given away trip the Cubs can sometime outdraw the home teams in fan numbers. I went to a game in Cinnci last year and the stadium was probably 60/40 Cubs fans. When they play @ Arizona (cubs spring training is down there) usually they draw a huge turnout. Same thing in Milwaukee, St. Louis, etc. All have huge Cubs followings in their stadiums when the Cubs are in town. |

10,000 wins last night one of only 2 franchises in baseball (Giants) to win that many games.
15-6 tied for the best record in the majors winning 6 in a row without one of the best players in the lineup. I'd say we have a pretty good fucking ballclub. Go Cubs Go! |

I felt the exact same way you guys did about 3 or 4 years ago. I'd watch a Cubs game here and there and watch the playoffs but never really cared much about it. After attending over 15 cubs games in the last 3 years my tune has completely changed. I truly see why it is America's pastime and have come to really respect the tradition involved. The best part of it is unlike other sports I get to watch Cubs games nearly everyday giving me something to look forward to on TV.
