How gay is that? Because you (Gaz) created such a flawed piece of shit system you disabled my ability to give reputation? I will gladly leave Nubblies if you don't give me the same chance everyone else has. I did nothing wrong, everything I did do was within the system you put in place. It isn't my fault reputation is such a shitty part of Nubblies, maybe you should fix the system and not the users? Just a thought, I expect to be able to do what every other member is able to do.

I think the problem is that with a small amount of users, reputation isn't exactly needed.
On a large forum, say a technology one, or a help one, sure.

The system isn't flawed. It's built in such a way that, when a user reaches a certain negative level, their rep isn't counted anymore. That number is -99999. You're beyond that, so it doesn't recognize your rep giving powers. Working flawlessly.

And...yes. Rep is an absolutely meaningless avenue to express emotions toward another's posts. But, since some of you have vaginas and can't handle when the color of your blocks is red, we can have a vote. Coming soon.

I don't think the problem is a spacial one. The little box by our avatar isn't the issue. The issue is that it marginalizes the quality of discussion on here, which is exactly the opposite of what it was intended to do.

As UB said what it does is cause another avenue to talk about stuff absolutely meaningless. Like when the spambots came and all we did was say "first". It was fun for a while, but became annoying quickly. I've already read multiple posts saying "-rep for bad grammar" or simply "+rep" which takes seconds away from my life reading nonsense that doesn't matter. It's also another way for members, not naming names (*cough*repug and ID*cough*) to stick their head further up members ass than it already is. We all know those two will positive rep Gaz up the ass.

HCW made a brilliant point, if this were a tech forum where rep was needed to serve the good of others fine. But we all know the system won't mean a damn thing on this forum. I'm not going to leave Nubblies and I didn't go off an emotional deep, I was simply proving a point on how stupid the whole system was.

While I'm sure Gaz's bowels smell aboslutely amazing it doesn't make you any less wrong. If you actually look at his profile you'd see the only rep I've given Gaz is a negative one.

As far as the whole rep thing is concerned though, I can see what some of you guys are saying. Maybe rather than getting rid of it completely though we can set a monthly limit on it? Like let's say everyone gets 4 reps, positive or negative, to give out each month. That way you have to use it sparingly, and only when a post is incredibly bad or awesome. It might actually help to make people want to make really good posts, if + points are hard to come by. Kind of like a golden N or something.

I like the idea of dueling wits. Lets say you post a totally annihilating burn or a killer point in an argument then others can give your post a thumbs up (anonymously to keep it from becoming a circle jerk) and if you get five or more thumbs up on that post you get some kind of +rep point and if you get five or more thumbs down you get -rep point. Threads with enough "epic posts" can retire to the hall of fame.

And it needs a cooler name than +rep: +interwebs, +internets, +sex, +exp, +win, +EPIC POST count, etc.

That seems like a fair system, DD...but it doesn't exist, unfortunately.

I can enforce a rep limit, though. It can be enforced daily (as in, 2 rep a day max). Also, as mentioned in the poll, I can remove negative reps. And, of course, I can make it go back to being completely anonymous.
