Mr. Blonde,

Upon graduation next May a friend of mine and I are planning on doing a 3 or 4 month work visa in either Australia or Europe. I know that you went to Australia and was wondering what program you went through, whether it was worth it, reccomendations, etc.

I also wanted to know what type of costs were involved and with your work what type of budget you were able to work with in Australia.

Australia dude, esp. if you're planning it this fall, it will be their spring/summer. I'm already jealous of you. I went through the organization www.bunac.org. Pretty good company for first time traveling abroad if you're doing it alone; they're kinda like your personal embassy when you're overseas. You can always go to their office in a major city down there and use their computers, to look for jobs and get advice, although I only really went there a lot in the first month. They get you your work visa and everything setup before you go, but you have a guaranteed job through them, albeit it might just end up being picking fruit.

It is pretty easy to get jobs, just walk around and ask if places are hiring, i mean its a job search so its never a picnic but most places are best to find work as a walk-in. I got lucky and worked at a pretty popular/high end liquor store and although i was working full time i was still bringing in around $500 AU a week, which i spent very unwisely, but bottom line is there are definitely jobs to be had.

Best fuckin time of my life man.

Blonde I'm planning on leaving in July 09'. I don't graduate till May 09', and my buddy doesn't graduate till then either so the both of us have planned on doing this.

$500 AU is comparable to what American? How much was rent on your apartment? I want to make enough money to keep me going on rent and have enough to get fucked up and party all the time.

I lived in a furnished 2 bedroom flat with 4 other people and rent was still like 120 or 130 a week. Kind of expensive, but we were also 2 blocks from the beach in a really nice suburb of Sydney, and our apt. was pretty nice.
