MMA Fighter- Scott Blevins

I made the trip to Fort Wayne this evening to see Blevins do battle. The call was made at 4 PM that we were going to make the trip to watch Indiana's Rudy.

We pull into the place where the event is happening. Granted, you could see the Coliseum from the bar, but this fight was taking place in a bar. When we walked in, these bouncers were rather redneckish. They made comments about the girls that came with us. I figured it was just normal protocal until I realized that our group was the only one's that have showered in the last week or so. We take our seats, which cost an extra 15 bucks to be on a stage so we could see all the action, and keep our shoes off of the grimmy muck on the floor at this bar. As I take my seat, I look past the curtain and see the man, myth and legend they call Lionheart.

He was everything I imagined him to be. 5'6" and looking every bit the pedofile that I thought he would. He was shirtless with faded Karate pants, and a brown belt around his waist, that was originally white. I tried to stay away from eye to eye contact, but it was impossible.

He actually came out and toke his opponent down. He controlled the top for the first 1:30 before his opponent got under the ropes and the fight was moved to the middle of the ring. Now his opponent had a pretty deep choke right from the start, but Blevins had broken it and had mount, but the ref decided to put them back into the choke position on the restart. Blevins gets flipped over on the restart and GNP until the end of the fight which was at 2:15. Tap Out due to strikes.

The sad part about it was, this was the best fight of the night. Only one fight lasted past the first minute other then that fight. I have never seen so many trailer park trash in one place. Weather it be fighting, or watching, I even felt out of place. I'm just glad I got my shot at seeing him fight, even if the only drink special was 5 dollar pitchers of Miller High Life. Strike one off of the bucket list!
