I decided to make this thread since The Advice Line is rarely ever used by people to simply give advice for no reason, so here we go.
I know I'm not the smartest, nor am I the wisest person alive, but after living almost 21 years I have learned a couple things, especially lately. That may sound retarded, but I really don't care. First, it's important that you are happy where you are right now. If you don't like where you live, where you go to school, what do you in your spare time, etc..., change it. Change it as soon as possible. Life is hard enough without extra shit bringing you down. Take me for instance, last semister life sucked ass. I hated my roommates, and I hated school. So what did I do? I kicked one of my roommates out, and I changed schools. I cannot explain how much happier I am now. Life has really taken a drastic turn for the better. Next, if you're in school, don't worry so much about grades. You're not there for the grades. Strive to master the subject you're majoring in. Make it your goal. Learn as much as you possibly can. If you do this, good grades will come. Of course, this will probably require more studying, which is my next point. Study as hard as you can. The harder you work, the luckier you get. It doesn't matter how smart you are. Intelligence can only get you so far, the rest of it comes from hard work. There is only a short period of time when you can work as hard as you can, and that time is now. When you get older it gets harder to learn, and it becomes more difficult to do the same ammount of work that you could when you were young. I cannot stress enough how important it is to work hard. If you find it difficult, almost unbearable to study, perhaps you're in the wrong major. Either that or you're just a huge pussy. Make sure your major is something you are really interested in. You would be surprised how easy it is to make yourself study when you are interested what you are learning, and you strive to master it. Teach yourself. You can't rely on some dipshit professor to explain everything to you. Half the time they either don't give a shit, or don't know shit. It's up to you to teach yourself. The better you become at it, the easier it is to learn new things. Finally, you must have confidence in yourself. Without confidence you're setting yourself up for failure. Believe me, I know. I used to feel like I couldn't cut it in college. Most of the time that would lead to poor study habits and poor test performance. I'm feeling much more confident in my abilities, and it shows in the classroom. Now I'm not saying walk around with your head way up in the air because you think you're better than everyone, but have confidence in the fact that you are smart, you can work hard, and you can master whatever subject you want if you put forth the effort. Alright that's really all I can think of right now, if anyone else has some advice they'd like to pass on, please do so. I'm sure we can all help each other out here. Perhaps this could be a type of "Cheap Advice of the Day" thread, or something like that, whatever. Anyways, I hope this helps some... P.S. Drugs and alcohol should be used in moderation, they'll eat you up if abused. And stay away from the hard drugs. |

Psychedelics are illegal not because a loving government is concerned that you may jump out of a third story window. Psychedelics are illegal because they dissolve opinion structures and culturally laid down models of behavior and information processing.

Here's some cheap advice. Work out to build muscle. It's probably the best decision i've ever made, and I wouldn't be where I am today without making that choice. I can guarantee it.

Hey ninjaface I'm pretty drunk right now so I might have mistaken what you said for an insult. I'm sure this is not the case. I mean let's get serious, we all know you're a fucking loser who snorts lines of coke off other guy's dicks.
