Psychedelics are illegal not because a loving government is concerned that you may jump out of a third story window. Psychedelics are illegal because they dissolve opinion structures and culturally laid down models of behavior and information processing.

On the subject: Blonde is correct to say that nearly 100% of the people who are ardent that they wont drink in college for some reason other than devout relegious beliefs or a history of alcohol abuse in the family (which can bring about devout religeous beliefs), end up drinking in college. Do they all go nuts? Absolutely not. Some people try drinking and realize that it's not really all that its cracked up to be. I believe I am at that point, but still continue to drink mainly out of peer pressure. Drinking regularily makes you do stupid things, looses its fun if repeated often, and is bad for you in that it makes you gain weight and generally overworks your organs. Most people, as a matter of fact; every single person I've encountered in farawayfromhere's position, end up trying drinking in college. They don't all end up becomming lushes or frat sluts. Is it possible that farawayfromhere may never drink during her college career? Indeed it is possible. But to me, it appears that her convictions aren't strong enough to warrent the sacrifice of a 'normal' college experience. Basically, farawayfromhere, when you get to college, drinking wont be that big of a deal, and more than likely you will try it. You may then choose to never drink again, of course. Just be careful, and have fun, it's part of the typcial college experience. [ April 01, 2005, 12:58 PM: Message edited by: DJ FC ]

![]() I'm not saying you'll become a huge party girl and party your way out of school. A lot of people can manage a good balance of partying, studying, and social life.
All I can say is that judging by your post (and hearing other things) I can tell you have that interest to drink sometime. Everybody has a rebellious side and you even said you could forsee yourself doing it. Notice my post said 95% of people do in fact get drunk at one point or another in there life. Again, there is still that 5% that doesn't, so there is always the chance you won't. Just put it this way, If I had to put money on it whether or not you partied it would definitely be going on yes and that is definitely not a bad thing at all. |
There's life and then there is Cubs baseball, it's a chore to seperate the two.

![]() Alright guys, here's a story. Its 130am by the way. I just went and picked up three of my closest friends who ditched me earlier tonight. They chose to go to some guy's house and party vs. the 'girls' night we had planned for the last week. No big deal, I dont get mad easily at all. I went with another friend and actually was having a pretty good time untill we got a phone call saying that 2 of them needed a ride b/c they didnt have a car, those who did were trashed and the other girl drove of somewhere (drunk). My friend and I went and picked up the two and followed the drunk one who insisted on driving her car, home. Once we got them there, I kid you not, the drunk one screamed at us because we werent staying at her house now that we were all there. Not a single thank-you for following her home to make sure she was safe. Not a single sorry for ditching us to go over there. But instead a bashing for not going with them and not staying there after we drove their drunk asses home. The drunk one is the lovely one I told you about earlier who is said to have become a 'drunken slut' at BSU. This is what it has done to my friend. Alcohol has become very very important to her and shifts her moods drastically. It really is sad. I told you guys I'm not denouncing drinking. I'm just saying I wont be a 'partier'. It will happen here or there I imagine, but thats just not what its going to come to all in all.

![]() First of all, I am very saddened that you will not be joining me in Chi-town. I have to agree with you on the booze thing too. My drinking has just gone way over the line since I moved here. Its crazy, but thats fucking Chi-Town man, everyone is drunk. I need to quit though.

I think there are people that enjoy it. I think there are people that enjoy it, but feel guilty about it because of what "society" says (visible society on a whole), I think there are those that against it, try it (going into it thinking it's evil), and never do it again. Finally, there are the people that are against it, try it, then are no longer against it. I'm the last one. Why? All drugs don't just kill your brain cells. In fact, most don't even touch them. Learn a little about the pharmacology behind...whatever... and you'll go into it with a much more "sane" mind. Then you'll understand the whole "drug culture" a little better. yea...I dunno why I just said all that. But that's OK .
