one of the biggest things in the world that i am irritated by is people who like to shove god (or a form of god) down other people's throats. sure, they are trying to "recruit" people into their religion, or save them or whatever they want to call it.. but their tactics are just all wrong. how the hell do you expect somebody to turn to jesus after you've just told them, straight up and ever-so-bluntly, that they are going to hell? or by chanting at them? or harping at them to go home and repent for they are horrible, awful sinners? no sense, no sense at all..
so, a week or two ago, i was walking on my merry way to a class at ball state. i get to the bell tower, and notice a HUGE orange sign up the road, with some scripture on it. this slightly annoyed me (just because i'm bitter) but i guess there's nothing really wrong with just standing there with a big sign of scripture. however, as i got closer, i heard him harping at people as they walked by.. "repent for your sins! JESUS IS THE ONLY WAY OR BURN IN HELL FOR ETERNITY! walk away from the sinning life style of the world today! REPENT!" although i was extremely pissed off by this event, i was raised as a christian, and an over-all polite person, so i decided against saying anything to him. really, i just think most of me chickened out. i went to class. i came back out of class about an hour later, and he was still there, and i noticed another one on the opposite side of the street down the road a little ways. how fucking obnoxious.... about the same time, i also noticed the "happy friday guy". he rides up and down the streets of bsu on fridays on a scooter, dressed as a combination of all kinds of different superheros, and yells "HAPPY FRIDAY, EVERYBODY!" some people are annoyed by him, but i think he's fun.. anyway, i guess he gave me a sudden burst of courage, because i passed the "repent or burn in hell" guy, and as i passed him i said "you should be more like the happy friday guy. maybe more people would like you." naturally, he got really pissed and started yelling at me. "IGNORANCE! REPENT FOR YOUR SINS, FOR YOU WILL BURN IN HELL!" i know it really wasn't much, but it felt damn good. percipere has already shared a couple things in another thread relating to this subject, but i was wondering if any other nubblites have ever stood up to people of this kind? come on guys, i know some of you have got to have some repenting to do... underwater,
I've put together something I hope you'll really appreciate. But this is not the place for it. Although the subject of Religion etc. maybe good for some great quips on occasion, the core nubblites (who've been responsible for making this place amusing as hell for everybody) seem to be pretty tired of people 2) taking things too seriously and D) hardcore debating things like religion, politics, and philosophies on life etc., not to mention BLUE) the fact that some people get too easily worked up about things without the excuse anyway. All of this makes it hard to enjoy talking smack and having fun with things the way they are. I don't consider myself a very good nubblie, but think I understand that nubblies.net is a place to go to just have fun and not worry about shit. Too much seriousness just stifles things. I'm not saying you're part of the cause, just that in pursuit of bringing nubblies back to its former glory, stuff like this is better posted elsewhere. To that end, I put together a little present for you. Unwrap Present. Hope you like it. |

everything has a place on nubblies. I don't think anyone would have a problem with you writing whatever you want as long as it's in the correct area. good religious debates, although over done, would be welcome in the 'I'm right, fuck you' forum.

well, it's not really a religious debate. i wasn't saying "fuck christianity. i think it's stupid. anybody else think so?" i was just bringing up one of the obnoxious ways people try to evangelize, and the funny stories that can come out of those situations... and my post kinda ties in with the "confessional" part of the "confessional/advice line" thread.. so i thought it fit perfectly here.
also, thanks for the present, percipere.. this looks like it could be a good ol' time. oh, one more thing.. Quote:

Yeah, i know the guys you're talking about 'water. They've never yelled at me directly, but i'm pretty sure if they did, i'm not sure what I would do. I wouldn't just walk away, because I don't take too kindly to situations where somebody is yelling commands at me. I personally would have no problem with jacking that fuck in the face and breaking his sign over his back, but he hasnt said anything to me yet. So we'll see.

Psychedelics are illegal not because a loving government is concerned that you may jump out of a third story window. Psychedelics are illegal because they dissolve opinion structures and culturally laid down models of behavior and information processing.

But before we go any further here, I must point out that she in no way tried to deny that she has a dick. Beyond that, are you trying to make a pass at me? Because I don't like guys...in that way. Sorry. Don't worry, you'll land on your feet. Are you trying to imply that I like to take it in the ass? Because I've taken it in the ass about as many times as someone has looked at you from across the room and said "Damn...I have GOT to tap that." Which I'm sure you're thinking "well that happens all the time." Let me tell ya something, I'd bet my life on the fact that no one has ever said anything like that. I mean, you have the attractiveness of Kathy Bates and the Romanian woman in Dodgeball. ------------------------ VOL Dumb-down: Horrible comeback. "YOU'RE GOING TO HELL!"
"you first" I then proceed to bludgeon the fucker with whatever is handy. One time I was over at a girl's house waiting for her to get ready for a date when a couple bible thumpers came to the door to spread their gospel. Long story short, when she finally was ready and came downstairs, she found all three of us sitting in the living room having a nice calm discussion regarding which came first, the man or the god. |

LMFAO.
BOLLOCKS!! Badass Stab. If you can't beat the snot out of 'em for being obnoxious, you might as well do your damnedest to make them feel emotionally unbalanced in your home. Which came first the 'god' or the man? Very nice. |
