This will be a thread where you post near-death experiences that are really fucked up, that happened to you, or someone really close to you. Go.

2 years ago a couple days before i went to college, my brother (who has a truck) was taking a trailer to Middlebury from Elkhart. This was at like 10 in the morning, and as he is driving, he falls asleep at the wheel. He crossed over the other lane of traffic, and went into the ditch on the OTHER side of the road. once the ditch ends he gets back up onto the main road, and with the bump, he wakes up, only to see he is about to hit a tree. He swerves to miss, and clips a FULL gravel truck. The truck rolled a couple times, and the truck and the trailer was destroyed. He came out with just a bump on his arm. It was fucking nuts.

Psychedelics are illegal not because a loving government is concerned that you may jump out of a third story window. Psychedelics are illegal because they dissolve opinion structures and culturally laid down models of behavior and information processing.

I was riding with a cop when they pulled over two nigras in a old cadilac. they found crack and a 380 on them. I had to stay by the cruiser but the cop I was with told me to be ready with the shotgun if anything happened.

3rd grade, I started choking on a bottle cap that had become lodged in my throat. Teacher had to give me the Heimlech (sp) Maneuver to get the motherfucker out. I remember that moment of my life VERY clearly.

Umm...like 4 months ago in Florida on my first extended freefall skydive, I could never find my hackey (the thing you throw out into the wind that opens your chute for you). I was blazing through about 4,000 feet wondering if I was gonna die when my instructor threw it out for me. Phew...

I was out in the Atlantic in about 12 foot deep water with a shark coming at me. This was two spring breaks ago during that whole shark attack craze thing... seriously scary shit.

And then there are all those times I'm riding in a car with Titan

In 8th grade I had my tonsils taken out. No big deal right?

Well about a week later I was staying the night at a friend's house. I woke up that morning and felt kinda sick and dizzy. When I looked down at my pillow, there was a spot of blood about 6-8 inches in diameter. At this point I was freaked. I went downstairs and my friend's mom saw how pale I was and walked me home. As soon as I arrived at my house, I saw down by the toilet and proceeded to throw up all the blood that had went down into my stomach. After I threw up all the blood, I stood up and instantly passed out due to all the blood I had lost. When I woke up, I was on a stretcher in an ambulance with big fucking 3 inch long needles in my arm because the paramedics thought I might need a blood transfusion. So on the way to the hospital I was pretty much stable and all that good stuff. I stayed the night in the hospital and was home the next day. Turns out that the reason I lost all the blood was because the stitches in my throat came loose.

Thats my near death experience, and from that day, I developed a passionate hate for needles.

oh my gosh... that one is pretty freaky.

when i was about three years old, i was in my back yard with my mom, playing around a creek. i was catching frogs or something, and standing on a little ledge-like thing of dirt... well, after a couple minutes the ledge started to crumble underneath me and i fell into the creek.. my mom was in the woods somewhere, and didn't notice i had fallen in the creek until it was almost too late and she pulled me out.

i've also almost been choked to death... and i've OD'd on pain killers. yeah. that was a smart one. i should've hung myself... well, i mean, okay i shouldn't have.... well you know what i mean. it would've worked, but then i wouldn't be here today sooo.. maybe that's why i was a dumbass and tried to do it the "clean" way.

I was born with the umbilical cord wrapped around my neck 3 times. Reportedly, my face was blue.

When I was about 5 I was in a pickup and a drunk driver ran a stop sign. He was driving so fast that he took the bed of the truck completely off. The driver spent a few days in the hospital and I had a concussion and a big scab on my head. I still remember the ambulance ride.

Old, mexican, handicapped woman pulled out in front of me, totaling my bad-ass car.

I go to Ball State. Does that count?

the trick is to get some oxy, and snort it after you take a few shots.

When I was really little I took swimming lessons, and one time I got stuck under a floaty raft thing and I couldn't get out from under it, but my daddy saved me. I probably wasn't close to death, but it was damn scary.

Last summer me and a couple of friends were driving out in the country, and the driver screams out the window, then i realized there was a parked car about 100 yds. ahead i screamed my ass off to get his attention. About 20 ft. away from the car he finally stopped tires still smoking. It was insanely funny

that just made me think of something. i don't know if i was really near death...but it felt like it at the time. when i was taking swimming lessons, i stepped off the little platform (i was really little), and went under water. i was under water...and couldn't get any breath.

the teachers didn't see me--cause there were so many kids, and they are dumbasses. my mom proceeded to walk down from the bleachers go to the edge of the people and yell at the teachers to get me out!! i guess they didn't hear her or something...and she ended up jumping in to save me (shoes on and all)

i love my mommy

ooh I forgot (though I'm not sure how), I almost got in a really bad car wreck with Ugly and Bert. We were on the interstate and for some reason the people in front of me all slammed on their breaks, so I did the same and then the lady behind me almost hit me, and the jeep behind her swerved off the road to avoid hitting her, and the semi behind them, thankfully, came to a tire smoking halt. That was probably the scariest thing I've ever experienced. My heart was pumping pretty hard for a long time after that.

I was in a car that hit a tree at about 65. The impact was right in front of the passenger seat, where I was. The motor was pushed into the firewall and my friend in the backseat, who happened to be really tall and not wearing a seatbelt, pushed the front seats forward to the point that my knees where stuck between the front seat and the dash. I ended up shattering my nose, messing up an arm, and fucking up my knees... but the ambulance driver, cop, and fireman at the scene all made comments about how I was lucky to live.

The guy in the backseat had to walk with a cane for a few weeks, broke an arm, and got the ability to make kinda cool popping sounds from his jaw from the accident.

The driver, who caused the whole ordeal, had to get two stitched.

Same here, only twice though.

The near death thing I can think of was on a drive with Rufus. We were on a gravel road that had been covered with ice over the winter. We kept telling him to slow down but he kept shifting gears until he realized he had to stop about an 1/8 a mile up the road. 60-70 mph, icy dirt road, Rufus at the wheel. If it weren't for a ditch we would have flipped the jeep more than once like we did.

Gods are but men with immortal souls.

Yeah same here, they also had the forecepts right below my eye, so in my picture my neck is all red and I have a black eye. Yeah, I was a hardass when I was little.
