I've lost my vista CD, and the dell one which came with it, and i'd like to restore using dell's shitty version, which I have no idea how.
It came like this, with the recovery partition what i'd like to be loaded onto the OS partition

There's a file in the recovery partition called 'factory.wim'
if it was an iso or whatever, no problem, but its not.

The best i've found so far is this

and after downloading the windows applications listed, have no idea how to use them at all.
Am I best torrenting a new version? I'm downloading 'Vista Black Edition' which is some guys cracked version, anyone tried this?

if you reboot your laptop you should be able to hold a key that will allow you to install the recovery partition automatically. but it might be displayed so fast you can't read it. It's usually f2, delete, f12 or some shit like that

I'd go with a cracked version of the OS, i've never heard of the Black edition though. Sounds foreboding.

Well the first thing I did when I got this, was delete all trace of Dell I found, every shitty program that they put on for you, one of those was the OS recovery program.
Pretty sure its f8 for this, and its not working.
