Who gives a fuck where a guy is drafted? That doesn't mean anything in regards to NCAA basketball and sure has hell doesn't make a college basketball team. I've watched great Duke teams over the years not have a lottery pick on them. A team is more then the 5 guys that jump the highest. If you can't read and can't function on the court as a unit, you're not a team. Period. End of story. UCLA with Jabbar, and it isn't even close.

It seems that f3lix has forgotten teams are about winning championships, not generating the highest draft stock for a couple of their players.

UCLA with Alcinder isn't even the best UCLA team. The UCLA teams with Walton were better. The college basketball game has changed so much since those days. There's shot clocks, three point shots, at large tourney births, illiterate niggers going to college, etc. that were not around then. It takes more than just one great player to win a tournament now. Those Jabbar teams had Jabbar and nobody else. Even the University of San Francisco teams had Bill Russell & K.C. Jones. The Walton teams also had Henry Bibby, jamaal Wilkes, and Nater. They were are force for their time, moreso the the 1968 team.

Cocktooth, your ability to attend any nubblies gathering shows how much you understand teamwork.

Though if you actually read anything or watch anything I've posted you'll see that those Rebels were labeled as completely unselfish players. Just pure, raw talent. Their 45 game win streak is the 4th longest in NCAA history and hasn't been tied or broken since it happened.

This wasn't a one-man show by a 7-footer who towered over everybody. It was a complete and total team.

I am disappointed in Cocktooth, that with all his supposed basketball knowledge, he isn't on here defending how good this team was. Kind of telling, if you ask me.

CT, please tell me you're not inferring that the best team must win the NCAA tournament? In the earlier days, sometimes the best teams didn't even make the tournament. I don't think it was rare for an undefeated team to not get invited.

The tourney also used to only be 16 teams.

I'm just a guy on the internet. I was doing some research for a project I'm working on and an arbitrary Google search somehow popped this thread up. I read the preview and I was intrigued. Then I read the entire thread--which included some posts that I disagreed with--and decided to contribute with a couple thoughts of my own.

If my posts aren't warranted or welcomed then you would be well within your rights to either ignore them or take the high road and logically debate their validity or lack thereof.
