I used to post on the jiu-jitsu.net forum, where basically chaos raged nonstop. We frequently chased people away and then followed them and found ways to hassle them in real life. The famous DoobieJ story is perhaps the greatest example of this, but there were many. Anyway, th constant life ruining that we were doing over there slowly turned into business ruining for the site owner. He decided to make the site a pay site full of techniques, and other shit you could buy. Most of us who had been there for quite some time, were allowed to stay free of charge provided we stopped acting like assholes--an impossible task. Our posts got edited to death and everything got super boring. Slowly the forum started dying as members moved onto other mma and jiu jitsu sites. It was sometime during this era when I was working on a photoshop that required a picture of a dead baby, that I stumbled upon nubblies. During my search, I discovered the dead baby game. It was entirely tasteless and suited my assholish nature fine, just fine.
I lurked for about 10 seconds before creating the Ironic Mustache account. I don't remember if I made any posts before starting, "The Ironic Mustache Corn Experiment," but it was pretty well received, so I hung around. It was as much an experiment of the human colon as it was an experiment to the acceptance of my often strange sense of humor. I never finished the corn part of the experiment, but Mistoffelees took over and it ended in a success. The nubblies part of the experiment also ended in success. Shortly thereafter, I brought over Repug and several others, who then brought over several others. This is what was referred to as the invasion. There was a sudden influx of like 10+ accounts of jiu-jitsu.net assholes, running amok on these boards. Although Repug and I tried to calm some of them down, they refused and there was a clash of personalities. Mostly the jj.net extremists were just trolling and eventually got bored with it and left. Those of us who were actually looking to stay long term eventually calmed down long enough to become somewhat accepted; provided of course, that we could learn some of the rules. Gaz gave us a jiu jitsu forum so we'd stop talking about it everywhere else, and the rest is history. |

Great thread.
I joined Nubblies shortly after it was created. Orgazmo just mentioned his new site to me in passing in a hallway at WCHS the spring semester of my senior year. I signed up in Waldeck's class and spent maybe 2 seconds deciding on "Ugly Bastard". Knowing what huge assholes everyone was to each other, I figured a self-degrading screenname was a safe choice. Nubblies didn't really take off for me until later that fall when I was a freshman at Ball State. At that time, the site was basically dead. Talking to Orgazmo on IM, one of us suggested trying to revive it. I spent a lot of time trying to recruit new members and helped resurrect the site by getting pliedes (wintergrey at the time as DH mentioned), Titan (might have been something else then too), buckeye, bert, and probably a few others I'm forgetting to get on and start posting more. I basically begged people to do it telling them that if they just got on and made 5 posts, I'd leave them alone. The strategy worked pretty well. Contrary to what DH just reported, it was at this time that BDH made the hottest girls by grade at WCHS thread which is really what made Nubblies take off (it was mostly a huge failure earlier that spring and had all but died). As he mentioned, I recruited f3lix to join and (I think) played a large part in getting Mr. Blonde to be an active member, though it may have been that once he found out FC was a member after seeing pliedies and Titan's graffiti that prompted him to be more active. That's basically been the extent of my recruitment. After that fall of 2002 when Nubblies really got it's legs under it, I haven't really made much of an effort since to recruit new members and have actually stated that trying to recruit new members is sorta retarded since we all enjoy each other's company enough that we don't really need any more people around just for having more people around's sake. |

I was invited by Ironic Mustache by way of electronic mail after Jiu-jitsu.net had been ruined by it's members, it's owners and by vaga1220.
For anyone interested in at least part of the jiu-jitsu downfall and subsequent invasion; as I remember, it went something like this: Jiu-jitsu.net was ran by a guy named Gene Simco and it was awesome. The jiu-jitsu portion of the website wasn't even popular, no it was the sub forum titled "Off The Mat." There was always controversy over Simco's jiu-jitsu creditability because on the home page it said something about how he was a jiu-jitsu "champion" after only competing once and placing 3rd out of 3. So he caught a lot of shit for that and it only got worse when he was promoted to black belt but wouldn't say who promoted him. Well it all fell apart when some nigger got on JJ.net and called Simco out, he wasn't the first but I guess Simco had enough and made the site pay only. Some of us were still posting in the off the mat until one day when some pos nigger started complaining about how we were all raciest and shit. I responded to him with "Nigger chink wop jew" Simco said that the raciest, insulting, and X rated material we were all posting was costing him customers and he deleted the off the mat section... and after all that, it was over. |

Blue Period
UB messaged me a bit ago to remind me that, after Nubblies.com was lost but before we migrated greatoast.com, Nubblies was hosted on a subdomain of Blue Optic: nubblies.blueoptic.com. We persevered without shame. This period of time was referred to as the Blue Period. And, to be fair, I think we may have actually called the "Grey Period" the "Toast Period" at the time. The Great Purge There were a few times that that folks tried to get me to get my own hosting (normally spearheaded by UB), but I never did it, citing the pain in the ass it would take to move the site, the $10/month it would cost (Active hosted it for free...and we were all broke back then), and the bit of a slap in the face it would be to Active to take the site he gave me elsewhere. To elaborate on the "we were all broke back then" point, here is a thread where multiple people are pledging donations for me to recover the Nubblies.com domain name. This is before we realized it was gone for good. Note that the cost would have been $8. In 2005, Active's company fell on hard times and started to charge us for the hosting. Again, many wanted to leave, but, in a show of appreciation, I decided to stick with his hosting and began paying him monthly. A couple year later, the Great Purge struck. You can find a thread with a description here, but, in short, Blue Optic's main server was completely deleted. Active's claim was that it was completely the company he leases from's fault. Obviously there was speculation that wasn't the case (and perhaps he said otherwise later...not entirely sure), but I'm not here to place judgments. The most recent backup I had of Nubblies was 5 months old and only contained the post content, not the files for the site. This means that all images that had been uploaded were lost along with all content of any type that had been added in the last 5 months. When DD Tempest says that his existence was wiped, he means that he had registered within that 5 month period. As far as Nubblies was concerned, he didn't exist. Beebs also had a fantastic thread about all types of fighters. He had poured tons of time into it to give great info and links to videos. It was a true gem that was taken by The Purge. The Purge marked the end of Blue Optic, both for Nubblies and in life. We moved to Made2Own, which may very well be the shittiest hosting provider in existence. Just a second... MADE2OWN IS A TERRIBLE HOSTING PROVIDER | MADE2OWN REVIEWS | MADE2OWN CUSTOMER SERVICE | IS MADE2OWN GOOD We now live on a provider called Hawk Host. They've been nothing but a pleasure. I would suggest that anyone looking for a hosting provider (and has perhaps even stumbled upon this page searching for Made2Own reviews) take a look at hawkhost.com. <== Look, not even an affiliate link! You won't be disappointed. |

Vaga you left out so much shit and took way too much credit for all that. IMO Repug is actually the catalyst because the decision to restrict all offensive content came after he personally harassed one of the paying customers (on the site as well as on myspace) to a point of such great frustration that he threatened legal action. Okay now I'm starting to think we need a jiu-jitsu.net memorial thread. No one start it until I get back from gettin my laptop out of my car.

There have been two Nubblites basketball teams. Orgazmo and myself are the only two remaining posters who played on both teams. UB and f3lix were on the Nubblites college basketball team.
Let the record state that BDH was too big of a faggot to play on the Nubblites high school team. I would really like to hear about the Iranian story. I have searched for a thread about this but have been unable to find it. |

Iranian Black Hats
In February of 2007, Nubblies was hacked by a group that called themselves, "Iranian Black Hats." The initial hack had the front page reading something like, "This page has been hacked by the Iranian Black Hats." Simple vandalism, no harm or anything. I retaliated by changing all passwords and removing all foreign files. They retaliated by immediately re-hacking the site, making themselves an administrator, and posting a message. Active was very little help at the time and I pretty much knew dick about security. Then, out of nowhere, I was contacted by a gentleman who called himself "h4x0r". He claimed that the Iranian Black Hats were script kiddies and that they use sites like Nubblies as their playground. Evidently they were using some unpublished vBulletin vulnerability to easily gain access. After finding their site, I found "Nubblies.net" listed with a random point value beside it on some type of hacking leaderboard. h4x0r professed to me a hatred of all script kiddies, especially this particular group, and offered to fix the site and all vulnerabilities for no cost. All he needed were my passwords to access the relevant areas. Hesitantly, I provided the info (I really had no other choice at the time). And, like an angel sent from the heavens, he diligently worked for a couple of hours, randomly telling me the shit he was doing as he did it. I waited for the site to change into a kiddie porn palace before my eyes, but it never did. Instead, it was fully restored. His parting words were advice to change all passwords so that even he couldn't get back into the administration areas and to double password protect the administration area (something that has been in place since). The first post after the hacking can be found here. Something that just clicked to me: The above post is the last one that was saved in the Nubblies backup that was used after The Purge. In other words, the only reason I had that backup was because of the hacking. Had the Black Hats not hacked Nubblies, I would have never created that backup and we would have lost much more than 5 month's worth of data. In fact, that thread was much longer. It shows that I took the backup after I "restored" the site following their first hacking. That's the thread in which they eventually posted as an administrator, but, because I created the backup before that happened, those posts are gone. I'll be damned. |

I started a thread at jj.net goading him on and I guess he didn't appreciate my humor. hahaha I just logged in and found the e-mail exchange: Me: Did he E-mail you complaing about all the affection I was showering him with? Simco: Yes - and the guys who help run the site, do my programming and the fullfilment co. that places the orders and everyone else in the world. Don't piss off paying costomers because it makes it harder and harder to convince the smart people I'm in business with to leave the locker room here. Me: Geez. I didn't realize shit was so serious. Simco: You can be a dick - you basically can't help that anyway, but don't make fun of paying customers - 'the innocent'.

I was a fucking moderator there. And he complained to me as well. I can't believe he let IM become an administrator. That was messed up. Dragon forums? Seriously, what the fuck were you thinking? Special cheenook forums. I wonder if Chee is still alive. I'm sure tenzin palkyi realized that restraining orders weren't bulletproof.

For that matter I wonder if Tenzin Palkyi is still alive and not cut up in to small pieces and put in to a freezer to be stored for food.

Did Migite come here also? I started a roll call type thing in the jiu jitsu memorial thread but forgot about him.
Schroeder was an Indiana kid I'm pretty sure, and was one of the biggest douches I've ever e-met. Someone please pull up the original picture of him posing all hard with his indoor volleyball team. |

random thoughts
try as I may I can't remember what the old sexbox looked like before vbulletin was upgraded. I remember it being superior somehow besides how the "new" one used to refresh to the bottom every 5 seconds making it impossible to read. There was also a period where we had a front page -------- I joined right before The Invasion at DJFC's suggestion during my freshmen year of college. My first works were trolling Dirty Hairy about how rich I was or something like that. It was my first experience with a forum website. It was easy to get addicted right away because it seemed like so much shit was going on. Golden N's, OSTs, contests, invaders from another website, all subforums seemed always active. Everything used to be so mysterious to me, trying to figure out who was who and whatnot. Nubblies seemed like a strange unexplored ecosystem. There wasn't a "read unread posts" button at the time or I didn't know how to use it. I used click onto each subforum individually to read new/updated threads. Now that I'm more seasoned and jaded I barely even notice which subforum a thread is in. ---------------- Several things led to a decrease in activity in my eyes from when I first joined. 1rst was The April Fool's joke which weeded out much of the delicious Troll Food and Butthurts. Then there were the Dark Times where this site couldn't stay up for more than an hour due to various issues. I think there was one point where it was down for like a straight month. I was a proponent of upgrading the site but I remember a lot of people didn't like the change and that may have played into some of it as well. |

Luckily, there was a screenshot taken of the old Sexbox in a thread dedicated to that: The Magiclit is leaving so say goodbye thread. Quote:
Speaking of subforums that are no longer used... Prison Prison was a subforum that used to exist simply to punish posters for various levels of malfeasance. The idea was simple: Once a user was placed in Prison, they were only allowed to post in Prison. All other users could wander as they wanted, in and out of Prison, oftentimes making posts provoking the inmates in other forums (which they could read, just not respond). Prison is still out there, but only accessible via direct browsing. DJ FC is good for making a post there every year or so. Now you can too! Speaking of hidden subforums, there was also an Ultima Online subforum that has been decommissioned (and undiscovered for quite awhile). And, of course, we had the (once private) Nubblites Subforum. This forum was dedicated to the original Nubblites team, the one that Dirty Harry referenced earlier in this thread.

I'm also responsible for Magiclit. We were playing that game I just recently brought up, and she was in there. She followed me here and stayed. I think UB may have sexed her in Las Vegas.

Repug used to be a lot bigger asshole/more fun. Sadly, I think I know what caused the change. Life is one big tragedy after another.
We all used to be pretty fucking mean. blackbirdsjoy, that was my childhood friend Travis. That makes 2 Nubblites who have my mother as their avatar. |
