You'd think there would be some good lessons in those first 13-14 years, too. I mean, puberty hits. I'm sure he'd be tempted by some ladies, maybe it could address masturbation (as some of us know that it doesn't, besides Onan which I still believe covers a different subject). I mean, if he didn't sin then he probably didn't have sex since he was never married (that seems to be a hot button to Christians). You know, did he flog the dolphin or did he just need to do the laundry every couple of weeks...if you know what I mean.

I dont think you read my argument clearly, or perhaps I didn't write it clearly enough. My point is this: Practically you can't change politics by expressing your disapproval. The same is with the weather.
Now I'll try to make this as clear as possible. When discussing the month of December, it is natural for me to discuss it from my own point of view. This is the basis of all human communication, this is why conversations are valuable, because people all bring a different perspective to an argument of a conversation. For me, December brings with it some very negative aspects, which cannot be ignored. Even with the holidays (which would be spent in the fridged cold of Middlebury, Indiana) as a positive, I'd rather take some other month (say September) along with all the other aspects of that month. At first the thread praised the wonders of the month, specifically Christmas and other holidays. This was then paired with the advantage of getting 3 weeks of break from school (which I listed as a possible negative aspect). I fail to see how this thread is specifically on the pros/cons of religious holidays. Rather, the subject in question appears to be December as a whole, I believe this is a fair assumption. Now, to discuss the weather issue. Yes, there may be some places that have a meditteranian climate, (not interesting, but nevertheless a very important aspect of those places) and for these places, December may not be very eventful. For the rest of the Northern Hemisphere (the vast majority of the global population), however, December brings about colder weather which may be perceived as of lesser quality than the rest of the year. So one could say that December brings about more unfavorible weather globally than favorable weather. Perhaps there is an argument for the other side, but this does not mean that the point is not fit for argument. By all fucking means argue the point Now, as a fairly normal person in a conversation, I am most inclined to stress my own point of view. For me, December brings about poor weather and/or a chance to escape the poor weather with higher costs (which I am not willing to incur). Now is there any way possible that the cold weather should not be a factor when discussing one's like/dislike of the month of December? I hardly see it possible. Perhaps you believe that the bad weather does not outweigh the benifits of the Holiday season, then by God argue that point, but please do not suggest that the weather is a taboo subject. I wouldn't suggest that you not use the holiday season as a reason for liking december simply because some places dont celebrate major holidays around this time (and I'm sure there are a few). Edit: I just read this post, and it's still not clear, so I basically want to say that I feel that the weather is just as important as Holidays, and a thread about "December" should be allowed to incorporate both aspects into a conversation. I still think that you can change politics by stating your opinion, writting your congressman, getting involved. See, this is what I like about this time of year. Are you reading how optimistic I've been? This is not me. This is the only month of the year that I'm like this. My spirits are lifted and I'm in a better mood. I don't know why. Is my status different? No. Am I treated differently by others? No. But for some reason, at this time every year, I'm a happier person.
In all reality, there's a point to the north where a change in weather is harder to notice as well. It snows all year round and aside from the amount of sunlight, it's practically the same as well. Anyway, I'm going to go back and restate what I originally said. You are complaining about Indiana, not December. I still don't feel that it should have bearing. You do. That's fine. Let's just agree to disagree, because we're saying the same fucking things over and over and over again and I've become bored with it. And by the way, I still don't understand how you think a 3 week break from school is a negative aspect. Will you get 3 week vacations from work after you graduate? I've become all about taking advantage of moments and situations and this is a time to enjoy your life and consider yourself lucky. You won't have many more opportunities like these. |
