very very true. i am so sick of transplants that move here and think that they are impressing me when they tell me that they are an actor.

the great equalizer when they say that is "have i seen you in anything?" then they start rattling of the bullshit acting jobs they have taken like, "i was an extra in the crowd for that football movie" knowing that i know that they are a joke.

the other one that kills me is investment bankers. 23 year olds coming up to me telling me that they work for merrill lynch in investment banking like im supposed to wet my pants.

this nerd from my high school pulled that shit when i ran into him at a club, so i said "so you make less than minimum wage, then?" he shut up real quick.

beginning investment bankers make 45k a year, but they work 90 hour work weeks.

Not sure how investment banking is in LA, but I considered investment banking for a while (my majors are finance and business economics and public policy), and in NYC it's not uncommon to hear about investment bankers starting out in the 80k range. And on top of this, they only work the job for 2 years before being promoted, it's like clockwork. Yes, it's a lot of hours, but it's a great job for a kid right out of college who wants to get his hands dirty.

if you get a gig with bear sterns or a smaller investment house, then, yes, you will be making like 70k. however, in la, if you work for a ubs or merrill lynch, then you make about 50k.
