I make bad decisions.
|
While at the academy, some of our instructors told us that they never mentioned what they do to people and always told people other things. I do this from time to time, my go-to ones are;
Normally when I'm out and about at the bars in Tucson, I tell chicks I'm a dolphin trainer. There are no dolphins at any zoo in Arizona, this is unimportant. When the girls debate on if the Tucson or Phoenix zoos have dolphins, I usually respond with something along the lines of "oh really, my job doesn't exist? And when was the last time you were at the zoo, 7th grade?" And more often than not, thats pretty accurate. They love it and I roll with it throughout the night. My favorite so far was when one girl sent me a text a few days later, "Sooo, im at the zoo right now, I was hoping to see you. There are no dolphins. Asshole." When I go out in the town directly across the border from where I live, I tell people that I am a flight instructor as there is a flight academy here in town. |

lol you losers need to get some real fuckin jobs!
nah, i totally hear what you're saying. its so fucking bad here in NY. that is always the 1st or second question in any conversation you have here. On the flip side, when i ask someone what they do its really to know a little more about them, not necessarily 'rank' or judge them. some people have interesting jobs that i' like to hear about. not everybody though. I think when you guys get a little older and kind of have a career path in mind and have actually started on that path the question isnt so bothersome. most of my friends and aquaintances around my age (29) are doing something that they actively chose to pursue so its not like that question is too loaded or carries certain pre conceptions. mid twenties is a tough time professionally. |

"What do you do?"
UB, let me say that you, unequivocally, have the best answer to this question of anyone on this board. And the kicker is that its true. You're a professional gambler. While the rest of us slave away at hourly jobs, you spend your time playing cards and taking money from people who aren't as smart as you. That's pretty fucking cool in my book. The crux of the issue comes in how your frame your answer. Do you come off as a nerd who sits at home playing online poker like some introvert who is obsessed with WoW, OR do you frame yourself as a modern Wild Bill Hickok traveling to exotic places to make your living from games of chance, surrounded by loose women and stacks of money. That's how I like to imagine it, anyway. Also, I think you're story would be vastly improved if you carried a gun. You're white and live in Texas, for gods' sake!!! |

no joke, i actually went to the post office with a quart of beer and tried to mail it. they asked me if there was liquid in the bottle and i said yes. they asked if it was alcohol and i said no. they opened up the paper, looked at the bottle and just handed it back to me. i drank it and thought about you.

Compared to me you guys are. You probably don't fully realize how awesome my life is. If you could live it for just two days, you'd probably kill yourselves if I made you go back to your current life. (8)

Psychedelics are illegal not because a loving government is concerned that you may jump out of a third story window. Psychedelics are illegal because they dissolve opinion structures and culturally laid down models of behavior and information processing.

But how much more awesome would your life be if you carried a revolver around! Instead of them killing themselves you could do it for them, especially after a 5th Ace slid outta someone's sleeve....

![]() The basis of our governments being the opinion of the people, the very first object should be to keep that right; and were it left to me to decide whether we should have a government without newspapers, or newspapers without a government, I should not hesitate a moment to prefer the latter. But I should mean that every man should receive those papers and be capable of reading them. ![]() |
