The reason I bought this watch is a bit more personal. I love gadgets. This watch correctly keeps the time, day of the week, day of the month, phase of the moon, month, and year. Many watches assume all months to have 31 days and require an adjustment for the shorter months. Not this one. Every time you add a complication to a watch the difficulty of producing that watch increases. So not only does this watch know how many days are in each month, IT KNOWS IF IT'S A GOD DAMN LEAP YEAR OR NOT. that's right. This watch has a mechanism in the date that changes once every four years and only for an instant for moving the date. Additionally the number spot for decade only moves every 10 years (centuries sadly are done manually that would be insane. ) Ok so there's this watch that clearly brings me a lot of joy and looks amazing on my wrist. It ticks all the nerd boxes silently and is incredibly attractive to women. It will hold it's value. If you just made million number 2 from something as silly as bitcoin don't you think you could splurge a little?

In terms of value, the very tip top crust of cars are very much as you described. Not new/luxury cars, but vintage/rare cars (which I assume this watch is like, though I don't know because I know nothing about watches). I suppose you could say that of anything that is rare and widely desired, though. In terms of "personal" reasons, I think they're identical (full scale, not just talking about the top crust). Your watch tells you if it's a leap year. A GT-R goes 0-60 in around 3 seconds. Neither is necessary at all, but both are cool and to varying levels depending on the person you ask. Sure, a $50 watch would tell you the time and a $3k used Hyundai would get a person from Point A to Point B, but fuck that. That's not as cool as knowing if it's a leap year.

![]() FC, did you get the watch insured? How does that process work?
Do you expect people to occasionally recognize what the piece is and bring up conversation with you about it? Is the plan to wear it all the time? Special occasions only? Will little Chad be receiving the watch one day? |

![]() Don't have it insured.
I doubt many people know what it is. I will wear it every day. Sure... why not. |

I'll look into it but honestly seems like something I'd more want to sell than to buy. My general rule of thumb has been that you shouldn't insure something unless the loss or that thing would be life changing. Think about the fact that the people who sell you insurance are doing that for a living... it's definitely a negative expected value bet.
