G'd up from the feet up.

One of my gifts this year was a skydiving trip with my brother. Neither of us has been before, so I don't really have any idea what to expect. I've been bungee jumping 7 or 8 times, but I've been told it's not really similar at all. I know UB is our resident expert, has anyone else been? An pro tips?

I don't think that's up to me. I'm pretty sure you go tandem the first time you jump. I mostly was asking for tips on how not to pee on the guy I'm attached to.

I make bad decisions.

I've only been once, it was a tandem jump. It's an interesting experience, and I'd like to go again. For me the "falling feeling" only lasts for like the first 5 seconds outta the plane, then it just feels like just being there floating except that the wind is really loud.
Wasn't scary at all. have fun! |

Did it five times in the fall of 1985 at jump school. I'm fairly certain my experience is different from the others. It fucking sucked ass. Was like jumping of a two story building

Tandems are just like a ride at the carnival. You don't have to do/know much. Just enjoy.
If you want more responsibility and the experience of actually being in control of your skydiving experience, sign up for an advanced freefall (AFF) course. Your first jump will be with two instructors who hold onto you to keep you on your belly during freefall. You're responsible for pulling your own chute (but if you fuck up like I did on my first AFF jump and can't find the hackey, they'll deploy it for you) and for steering and landing the parachute. It takes around 4-6 hours of classroom time vs. just like 10 minutes of being told a couple of safety basics prior to a tandem jump. tl;dr: A tandem is ideal for a one-time shock value experience. If you think you might be interested in taking the activity more seriously and continuing with it, consider doing an AFF course. |

I've decided that if I had to choose my death it would be as follows:
1. I would first learn to skydive / develop the muscles to hold the Superman flying pose. 2. I would get a Superman costume. 3. I would jump out of a plane fists first and try to hit someone on the ground. |

A few of the other guys jumping were wearing "wingsuits" which seemed intriguing, but I had no idea it was this badass: Any experience with these things UB? | |
