Fine, I guess I'll be the first to comment on this seriously. I always told people that they would never know love early on in life, it was something meant for later on. But I can honestly say I know what it means to me now...
Love is being with someone and: it's never too hot outside it's never too cold inside it's never a bad day it's never a wasted time it's always the greatest moment of your life it's always pure bliss it's always clear thinking of nothing but them it's being able to look at them and forget every worry you have if you had to lose that someone or pierce your own throat with a rusted blade, the knife would already be half-in without thinking. those are just rough idea's of how i feel. not even close to everything, merely a scraping of the surface... |

Love is the biggest four letter word created.
Love is when you can spend an entire night in silence, and not being able to wish for anything more. Where thoughts of that person run through your mind every minute. You want to give them everything they ever dreamed of and more. Love is the perfect kiss goodnight. If the last thing they asked were to leave, you do it if it made them happy, no matter how much it kills you. Love is never wanting to let go. It's too damn late for me to do this right, I'll get back to it tomorrow. |

Love is when I see my cock and balls thrusting inside of her(s) mouth. (just kidding)
Love is undefineable, no words can put it in meaning, just my opinion. |

that's true...it is hard to put what it means to you into words...but it is an emotion that is real...contrary to what alpha thinks.

Love is when you are not with that person, everything reminds you of them. When they can say such hurtful things, and your feelings still remain just as strong for them. When they choose to be with someone else, and as much as it hurts you, you are still happy that they are happy. When you can spend every second of every day with them, and never get tired of them.

I agree that there is a fine line between obsession and love. It's all about time.
Throughout time, you won't stop loving someone. Obsession on the other hand, most of the time does have an ending, and it's usually when you find your love. |

Being able care for someone so much that youd be willing to sacrifice everything for them... including your own life, and your families... which is why i dont beieve TRUE love.. in the purest form exists, unless it comes from a god, like jesus..this idea alone is the one thing that keeps me wondering if christianity is true or atleast wanting to believe that it is true

I believe that love is different for everybody. Personally, I think it's when you see beauty where others don't necessarly see it. I'm not saying the other person's ugly, but she isn't drop dead georgous, but you'd rather be with her than anyone else. When every free moment is spent thinking of her...even if she does something to upset you. When you want to be with her, not sexually, but just because it's her. When you're with her, the world seems to melt away. When you hear something's wrong with her your world stops, and suddenly, nothing else matters. When you are willing to do absolutely anything for her...ANYTHING...without even a second thought. When you can talk forever, without ceasing, and treasure every word.
Now, I can't say I've ever had a girlfriend, and there are debates as to weither I've ever even been on a date, but if this is love, along with what the others have said, I at least have a sense of what it feels like, and while what I have felt is probably not, it's fantastic. I would never give up this feeling for anything in the world. I hope that not only will everyone find their love, but that she will return it. Does this sound right? I'll admit that I'm flying blind. On the contrary, someone's personal religious beliefs and moral convictions have a lot to do with what they would define as love. [ August 07, 2003, 10:49 PM: Message edited by: victim ] |

"I loved you
grey sweatpants no make up so perfect" (great song) I once heard someone say that love means you put the other person's entire world before yours. That you care about them more than yourself; their happiness means more to you than anything else, and you'd do anything to make them happy. I guess that's kinda what everyone else has said. I don't think true love has a real defintion, it's a million feelings mixed into one amazing concept. |

Quote:
On another note, John Mayer can go fuck himself. (seriously, he's that talented). What sim_flex_x has stumbled upon in all of her underscored glory, and unfortunate quotation of one of the faggiest pieces of worthless rocky mountain oyster jizz that has ever graced the music world, is that love is not a complex thing. While we're here, sim, why do you think he broke up with this perfect girl? What on Earth happened that would want to make him replace her with the typical android woman? It boggles me, at the same time being quite the depressing song. Hmmm... maybe he's just gay. *I poke fun, I poke fun* Anyway, topic at hand. Love is not some big rainbow bubble that surrounds your entire being and makes you ga-ga and makes your heart pound 5x as fast every time you see a certain person. You see some people have this really fucked up hopeless view of love, where everything happens like it does in the movies. You see him/her, everything slows down, your heart races, you make eye contact. That, my friend, is the definition of infatuation. Don't give me any of that crap. When you find your lobster, you don't need to even acknowledge any of that crap, it's already in you my friends. Besides, real, honest love, is a fuck, fuck, fuckload better than any of that kind of shit you could cook up. You know why? 'Cuz it's mother-fuckin' natural. (Please interpret the "mother-fuckin'" as any random profanity). Love, like beauty, and many, many other things you experience in life, is a constant that doesn't appear constantly. It's always there, it always exists anyway, but you may only see it for a second or two at a time, or a whole fucking day, who knows. You might see beauty out of nowhere when you see a close up view of the sun inside the waves of water on a lake, or everytime she smiles, or if you want to get cheeky, a fucking plastic bag floating in the air. Of course, every person is different, so what makes up love for every person is different. Take note of the love popping up every so often; nothing special about when, just when it should. Sometimes these feelings you'll get will stay and have a long chat with you, sometimes they'll pop in to say hello when you're at work, sometimes they'll go as far as to stare you down and make you smile from the inside out. I'm pretty sure that the first time I knew I was in love, I was laughing really hard. Love isn't some giant living in the hillside that comes down to gobble you up when you reach the age of 24. Love, much like other emotions, is with you all the time, and you'll have it when you need to. [ August 08, 2003, 01:53 AM: Message edited by: Titan ] | |

I'm going to speak bluntly, and I'm sorry if I'm stepping on toes here:
I would go so far as to say that not a single person who has posted in this thread has the slightest clue what love is. We're all 15-20 years old. Tonguegina (I'll pick on you, because I know you're a good sport, and one of my best friends) just got done saying (I paraphrase) "I've never had a girlfriend, or even been on a date, but I think I know what love is". Now, there's nothing wrong with not having had a girlfriend or going on a date, God knows I haven't done much better. But I think we all need to remind ourselves that we're a bunch of little kids who have no clue about life, whether we want to admit it or not. Maybe you do know what love feels like, I don't know. But I know what girl(s) you're talking about, and I know how you feel towards them, and I've felt the same way towards girls at times, and I can tell you, I'm quite confident it's not "love" in it's purest form. I mean, shit. So many teenagers these days are so sexually promiscuous, they probably can't tell a kiss from a fuck. Am I supposed to believe that such a person has the slightest clue what love is? Their "love" life has been so tainted by lust, that it'll take years for them to ever have any semblence of a normal, loving relationship. And again, there's nothing wrong with that, if that's your thing, but I don't think you should be trying to explain what love is. Maybe I've spoken too harshly here, but it's the way I feel. I'm not going to censor my thoughts, because then there is a lesser chance that my point gets across. Am I saying that no one on Nubblies has ever been in love? No. I'm sure there are a few of you who truly, genuenly have been in love. I just doubt that as many people who have attempted to define "love" in this thread, have really been in love. If you really want to know what love is, ask your Grandparents who when they look at each other, their eyes still sparkle, they still flirt with each other, they want nothing more than to be with each other even after 50 years of marriage. Ask them, they'll know what love is. -Ugly Bastard |

On the other hand, saying "We don't know what love is," is even more cliché than saying you do. I think you're probably 90% accurate when you say most people on here don't know much about love. But I think you're a lot less accurate in accusing it of being some strange myserious thing, it's not. If you're going to bring out the grading scale and say "Nope, this is not true love, in it's purest form," then you're just complicating the issue and fooling yourself.
Love is love. There's no fucking secret to it. I can honestly say there are probably only... 3 people outside of my family that I can say I love. And I'm not even sure I can say I love everyone in my family, you're not required to love someone just because they're related to you. People have this idea that since you're woven together through the blood that there is some mystical force field that surrounds and forces you to love them. Fucking get a clue. With a relationship it's not like you have to sit down and analyze their life and yours, their personality and yours and be like "Hmm... is this pure love? Or am I just getting some type of instant gratification with the relationship I have with this person?" If you're stupid enough to have to actually wonder and not know the answer, then you shouldn't be trying to develop any relationships. Love is not that hard to fucking figure out. Do you know why? Because it's not something you fucking figure out. It's just like any other emotion that the human being experiences. I don't have to fucking sit here at home all night and be like "Hmm... my dog just died... I feel sad... but... am I really sad?" Fucksake. [ August 08, 2003, 10:49 AM: Message edited by: Titan ] |

I totally agree with UB, 90% of people in high school who claim to of been in love really haven't been. A short 3 or 4 month relationship in which you were "in love" doesn't necessarily constitute that you were in love.
Loving someone and being in love are two totally different worlds. I love a lot of people, I love my friends, my family, and those whom mean most to me. You can love a lot of people but that doesn't necessarily mean that your in love and until somebody realizes this they'll never respect the word. I think the word love is thrown around way to damn much. Moreso with girls whom seem to want to say "I love you" to there boyfriend within the first week there together. To say it as they do is an immature gesture that they just want to live out some fairytale relationship that doesn't exist but in movies. I have been in love, I know this just because I do, I don't really have to describe why or "defend" the fact that I was/am in love, because I know that I am. My guess is that Orgazmo and Sim can both say that they're in love and they don't really need to explain why because they just are. The people that want to define the word are the ones who are searching for it because I'll reiterate, it's to many feelings and emotions to put into words.
