Regardless of who won or lost, I HATED the mediator during this debate. She was the focus when shouldn't have been, and wasn't the focus when she should have been. I'm watching it again right now, and I was a lil distracted before, but I still feel the same!

I'm voting for Obama, period. I really don't think Mccain would be a bad president; I'd rather see Obama in office, but I still think Mccain would do a good job, albeit probably get us into more war. The thing that really finalized my decision though and my firm, FIRM standpoint on it is this fucking Sarah Palin thing, and the chances of HER being the president. This is insane. I can't even believe she's this close to the fucking white house. If Americans really vote Mccain, economic policy being their reason or otherwise, with the full knowledge that Sarah Palin will not only have a pretty good chance at being president, but at least bring her folksy ass shit into the whitehouse, then as a country we are truly fucking lost. The way I see it, right now our finance market is fucked either way, (although Palin did bring up a GREAT point about Americans watching their own fucking ass about being in debt and not just blaming everything on "predator lenders" and won't step up and accept the fact they they are in fact living outside their means and living with tens of thousands of dollars in debt like its no big thing) but of course since thats all that UB and GWB seem to care about, and not EVERY FUCKING OTHER ISSUE IN THE WORLD. It's not going to matter how rich of a country we are if we still come off as "shoot from the hip, straight talkin, six pack drankin' good ole' americans!" Thats why all the other countries who hate us dislike us in the fucking FIRST place.

We still have a salvageable reputation, and we need to work on reclaiming that while taking baby steps in this economy. I know this is a recurring issue on these boards, but i really can't find any sympathy at all for the people making over 250k a year getting tax increases. First off, haven't they been getting ridiculous BREAKS until now? UB, I know you keep saying its going to "punish" those who make lots of money, and going to take away motivation, but A. I really don't think all those wealthy people are going to be like "fuck this, i'm not making money anymore because of these taxes" and B. I really don't believe it will be "no motivation to make money and be rich" in this country because there will be people from the <250 tax bracket who will still be striving to take their place if they don't want to be up there anymore.

That is all. I'm expecting insults; but judging from the "track record" (thanks sarah palin!) of the board only from UB. GWB will probably throw out some crazy fancy terms that only UB and that Harvard Law professor I posted about will be able to understand. Try to keep in mind I consider you both friends.

I find it funny how hardcore Christians have no clue on issues other then abortion. I made a comment that there are much bigger issues then abortion. I get, " Well to me abortion is the biggest issue and the only issue I vote for." You can be against it, or for it, but if it is the only stance you care about, you are wasting a vote. Nothing will ever change with abortion regardless of who is in office.

No, but by today's standards they'd (you'd) label him that way. A person's wealth is the manifestation of what they have contributed to society. It's a way of keeping score. Socialist government policies are a way of "keeping the score close", which is bad for everyone in the end.

Basically, people let their guilt over the wealth gap lead them to seeing things incorrectly. For example, let's say right now the average "rich" American makes $500k a year and you average "working class" American makes $25k a year. Socialists like Obama think that everyone is better off if the rich are making $300k a year and the poor $20k a year... after all, that's a multiplier of 15 instead of 20.

They're so single-minded about decreasing the wage gap that they don't realize they're actually screwing over the poor in the process! And the sad part is, the poor are generally easy enough to manipulate that they buy into these policies without realizing that they're casting a vote to bite the hand that feeds them!

I'd rather be lower class in America than middle class in Europe any day!

If you tax the rich heavily because they are rich and redistribute wealth, those rich people who pay wages either have to cut wages or cut jobs to retain a profit. Or they wouldn't be rich for much longer! If no one was rich enough to pay wages, nothing would "work." Buildings wouldn't get built, companies that make consumer product wouldn't be able to pay people to make their shit.

The reason companies/jobs exist is because the rich create them so they can turn a profit. Take away a company's ability to turn a profit and the rich have no incentive to create these businesses that create goods and services and JOBS.

Shared wealth sounds good and heavenly in theory, but an economy that works under shared wealth is less efficient than an economy where there is incentive to work harder and innovate. This lack of efficiency will cause the standard of living and wealth of everyone to decrease.

Say there is a doctor, lets say his name is Doctor McGayboy. Doctor McGayboy is a Vaginacologist and he makes this makeshift vagina-opener that is very convenient. He knows all Vaginacologists would love to use this thing in their practices, and he could make a lot of money by making vagina-openers. So he invests his money: he builds a factory, buys industrial machinery to make vagina-openers, buys steal to make his vagina openers, contracts a railroad company to ship steel to him, and hires a fuckload of machinistas to operate his factory etc etc.

Now if Dr. McGayboy knew that after doing all these things, any extra profit he made would just be redistributed away, he'd say "fuck it. no point. i'll just keep doing what i'm doing and keep my vagina-opener to myself."

Now, not only are no more jobs created because the machinists aren't hired, but a factory isn't built (more jobs to build the factory (more money)), no industrial machinery is bought (more jobs to create the machinery), no steal is bought (more jobs), no railroad ships anything (more jobs), and ALL the vaginocologists suffer because this innovative vagina-opener that makes vaginocology more efficient is never going to market.

Thats a cluster of fuck if you ask me.
