You're right. I wasn't trying to call you out or anything, just add that it's a common misconception the Beef Wellington is an English dish. I've actually attempted to compile an English cookbook in the past- trust me when I say I'm more than excited to hear a native's opinion of what he considers traditional food.

To protest including all the Cooking for Assholes threads around, and my deep desire to include them all in one thread, I'll be posting my next submission here.

The Curry has evolved a lot, from its asian origin where they just threw rotten meat together and added water and spice to make it taste better, to the modern version, where only slightly rotten meat is used.

The secret to a good Curry is to make a paste, and then add to it, usually I make one strong base, which you can add any other base to.

Ingredients:

1 Garlic
2 Onions
Ginger, finger sized
1 red chilli
Coriander
Vegetable oil
Tin of tomatoes
Salt to taste
1 Pepper

First, make the paste, half an Onion, Ginger, Garlic cloves, Chilli (you'll be adding more Chilli later to taste, but starting with one for the base is best)

The base of a curry is pretty strong, but it has to compete with the Chilli, add the Coriander, a pinch of salt, and some vegetable oil (a few tbsp's)

Will it blend?

Get a wok, put it in for a minute or so untill it changes colour slightly.

Add an onion (dont chop it up too much) and cook untill it goes soft

Add tomatoes, depending on taste but between half a tin to a tin.

Stir that shit

That's the base done, you can freeze this now, it'll last forever, depending on what curry you'll be doing will depend on the ingredients and spices for the next stage, I've gone for prawn (shrimp?)

For the spices, its time to get your grind on, I decided on 1/2 tbsp coriander seed, 1/2 turmeric, 1/2 garam masala and 1/2 cumin, Also added 1/2 chilli powder, but this depends on how much of a pussy you are, and how much you put in the base, 1/2 is moderately pussy.

Add the rest of the onion and sliced pepper, this bit is experimental, some people like a lot of onion.

I'm using tiger prawns, add them and let it simmer for 10 minutes

Serve with pilau rice (add cardamon seeds to the rice) and naan bread.

If I were to use chicken I'd add coconut milk and probably yoghurt, I should have added spinach.

Should be working now, not a huge fan of the nubblies uploader, doesn't handle multiple image and such.
Tried using Picasa with Gmail, uploaded the files as a public folder, but It seems they don't like hotlinking

Good point, you can do it with attachments but that sucks and it doesn't auto-create [img] tags for you.

Looking at buying a new (good) camera here in the next month to get a little more into photography...I have taken some decent shots but am going to be traveling a bit so want something that can actually do good scenery. Any suggestions from yourself, dent? How do you like your camera?
