Poor Sport

Just finished this game for PS3; I had it since christmas, but only really played about 2 levels around that time, I knocked it out in 3 nights this week. I loved the game, it really sucks you into the action. The story is rather well connected, I would find myself thinking, well I'll just finish off this part of the story and then go do something else, and I would be a continent away doing something completely different and not really realize it because there was no huge gap to let me know "ok, that part is complete, time to move on to the next." The story does move a bit into the supernatural, which was a bit of a letdown for me, because it works within reality so well.
The cut scenes are well done, even though they are long, and Drake, the main character is actually more like a regular person in the way he acts and talks, as opposed to most one dimensional personalities in games like this. Gameplay is a mix of third person shooter, a lot of climbing, and a small part puzzle solving. The shooting aspect is great; you can only carry one handgun sized weapon and one long weapon, with realistic amounts of ammo. The hand to hand fighting is well done, but pretty limited, it does have counters, but it is basically the same routine every time; you land a few punches and if the guy grabs your arm you duck under his punch and finish him. There are a few other moves that look pretty cool, and the obligatory sneak up behind somebody and snap their neck. The climbing part of the game is unique, and I enjoyed it, it can be a bit tiring, but it does a really good job of not being frustrating by making you loose your balance for random shit. Basically the game will make sure you can actually complete the task if you go to the right place; it can be annoying at times to find something clime-able, but it does give you a hint after a while. The puzzle solving is really not that hard compared to like a Myst type game; you carry a book around that tells you what to do, and you only need to use it about 3-4 times. The only time you will be sitting there thinking "what the hell am I supposed to do" is in some of the later stages where you have to climb out of a building or what have you and can't figure out how to do it. I haven't played any of the multiplayer yet. Overall it is a game I would completely recommend. |

COME ON YOU YANKS

Started playing this a couple of days ago and am about half way through now.
It's fanfuckingtastic. Agreed wholeheartedly about the storyline. The cut scenes are actually a reward instead of an annoyance. The gameplay is nice, but I play through the levels because I want to see what's going to happen next. I played through about half of the first Uncharted before setting it aside and not really thinking much more of it. I don't think I'll be putting this one down until it's done. And, to answer Stab's question: Chloe. And it's not even close. |
