You're just jealous because I'm in Spain with hot Spanish bitches and you're in Korea where all the slopes look alike and fuck sideways. They bring potato chips with your beer here. This ass place is awesome.

I'm in Siemreap, Cambodia. In a few hours I'm taking a nightbus to Bangkok. I WIN.
Since I have some time to kill, I thought I would check in and give some narrative to how my trip is going. I've been in Asia for a little over a week, and I've been keeping pretty busy. The first day (in Saigon) I checked a lot of the tourist boxes, and I had this moment of panic like "Holy shit, what am I going to do for three weeks?" Now I'm coming up to the halfway point and I had to make the call not to go to Sihanoukeville, so I can have more time in Thailand. Saigon was OK but either Vietnam has changed in the last few years or I just like Hanoi better. Also it was the end of Tet which you'd think would mean everyone would be partying asia-style but it just meant some stuff was closed. I finally had the Pho I've been craving and some other pretty solid meals... had fish braised in a clay pot that blew my mind. I was staying in the backpackers area so at night I would just wander into a bar and say "Where are you from?" to some white people, and voila, friends. Mostly australians, apparently Vietnam is a big destination for them. There was one night where I was drinking with some Americans and the next morning my notebook was filled with strange notes like "What will my biographers say about THIS?"and not in my handwriting. If you sit down by yourself for like a minute, pretty soon a hooker will be flirting with you. More on that later I guess. My next stop was Phnom Penh, but to get there I took this overnight boat thing through the Mekhong delta. It was cool, had The Doors' "The End" constantly playing in my head. Anyway by the time we got to PP I had been on like 7 different boats, two vans, and a floating hotel. Phnom Penh is a good example about what sucks about being a tourist. You basically are constantly being peppered by tuk-tuk drivers, or people selling shit, or using their kids to sell shit. No one really goes to PP except as an in-between place... lot of bars though, and a lot of hostess bars, which are full of attractive local female bartenders who flirt and dance with you and presumably could be taken home. One night I was hanging out with this french dude from the mekhong trip, and we each ate a "Happy Herb Pizza." Top this with a whole buncha Tiger and BaBaBa beer and pretty soon I was feeling PARANOID as hell. We went to a hostess bar and the sight of ugly middleaged white guys dancing with hot ass cambodian girls freaked the hell out of me. I just got hung up on how these girls were trying to trick the guys (true but not worth having a fit over.) I also forgot how big the room I was in was, and when I turned around and saw space behind me, I was convinced a sliding wall had opened up. Also the room was moving and I felt like I was back on a boat, and I told the french dude several times that I suspected him of being "In on it." I don't do happy pizza well apparently. The next day was a waste... I had a terrible hangover that felt very much like the hangover from pills in Ibiza... but the day after that was BUSY. Went to the killing fields and S-21 in the morning, walked the city midday, had some pretty sweet korean BBQ, took a rickety-ass bus to Siem Reap, walked the night markets, let fish eat my feet (it's like a massage thing.) The next morning I spent all day touring the Angkor Wat temples. Those were really amazing. Not that the temples are so old and big, but just how peaceful the place is, and the temples and nature lining up really perfectly. I've got pictures galore if anyone cares. That night I decided to do a proper Siem Reap barcrawl. Siem Reap is much nicer and more laid-back than PP. I had a good cambodian bbq dinner with a whole bunch of japanese people that didnt speak a word of english, I named them all after Friends characters which they loved, except a) the girl who had to be Phoebe, she was upset, and b) the guy I called the fonz because there were 7 of them. After that I went to a piano bar where there was a terrible phillipino band playing, like, elton john covers. Pretty soon the clientelle took over, and when I left a german guy with a thick SS accent was singing "Let it Be." I had two glasses of Yar Dhong, a Khmer herbal liquoer that kind of resembled Jaeger without the sweetness. Next was a french-seeming cocktail bar, and after that a kind of clubby place with good music and good drinks but all dudes inside. The next place was the opposite, lots of cute girls but the drinks and music were shit... I put up with it for three rounds to chat up a parisian cutie. Next a place in the night market dressed up like a tiki bar, I had three caprainhas there because it was outside and pleasant and I was talking to 2 very boring but respectable looking english girls. I left that place and heard, like the pied piper's flute, a song that, as DJFC would say, once changed my life, "Infinity." I followed it to a sick rooftop bar where I sipped beers from on top of a skateboarding halfpipe. Then a place called the warehouse where I drank sticky rice wine and saw on ESPN that Ray Allen had broken a 3-pointer record. He's so cool. Things get hazy in my memory here, but I went to a dance-club type place where THEY played infinity so I was totally into it, then back to the halfpipe place I think. At that point I stumbled back to my hotel, in front of which I met a very nice Cambodian girl who may or may not have been a professional, but in any case I took her back so that's 2 things off the bucket list (paying for it, and with an asian girl.) And the $30 i paid was the most I've paid for anything on this trip except for the plane ticket. She wouldn't let me take any pictures of her, I think she probably planned on being an actress someday. It was magical. So in 3 hours (230 AM) I get on the bus and 10 hours or so after that will arrive in Bangkok. This whole trip's finish line is the full moon party in Koh Phangan, so at any point I look up and see the moon and know how far it is. Wish me luck, I am seriously considering that I might actually die on this trip. Kisses. |

G'd up from the feet up.

You have caught the correct. If the ecstasy is good enough, anything can be a life changer. Ever make out with a fat chick and it was like the most awesome shit ever? Then later the lights come on and you're dehydrated as shit, and she's fat, and you're full of shame and remorse? Yeah, me too.

Whilst trying to put the smack down on mr. Blonde, I finally met the super hot Spanish chick that I thought for sure I was going to bang. An easy 9 by all objective standards. Long brown hair, big tootsie roll eyes. And what appeared to be a dynamite body. She was flirting openly with me at a tapas bar off plaza Nuevo. However, something didn't seem right. Her language was sorta off more so than others. She seemed really interested and I suspected that she was gonna ask for money before the act.
As I'm moving in for the kill. A feel a hand on my shoulder. The bartender stops me. This was the owners 16 year old daughter who doesn't have the capabilities to even know what was going on. She's mildly retarded and just thought I was being friendly. Now I'm torn between feeling really creepy by hitting on a girl young enough to be my daughter and wondering what a fucking waste. She looked easily college aged. Pancake failure of the highest order. |

Last night was Valentine's day so I went to a ping pong show. It was pretty much exactly what you'd expect. In addition to ping pong balls there was writing of names, launching darts to pop balloons, and cigarette smoking. Wonder if that shit gives you cancer. The girls in these shows were not nearly as hot as the strippers on the ground floor, as to be expected. It was an experience but weird.
Bangkok is sick. Khao San Road is what you'd expect if you've seen the first five minutes of the beach. The street food is fucking awesome, so was the one restaurant meal I had. I haven't eaten fried bugs yet but I promise, I will. Since I came with only one bag of clothes and they're all dirty now, I just buy new clothes each day (except pants/shorts) bc theyre so cheap. Have spent a good deal of time by the pool on the roof of the hotel, good place to meet people to go out with at night. Also did a wrestling and BJJ class here. Was good to get a workout, but I was hoping for a hardcore class full of thais, and it was all expats, only one blue belts... everyone else was white or "green" which is apparently between white and blue. Despite being in the middle of a 3 week bender I was able to run the room. But whatever, prob gonna go in tomorrow AM before I fly to Koh Phangan Full moon party in 4 days. I'm honestly scared. |
