I've been listening to hip hop for 15+ years. And I got over Aesop Rock freshman year in college. The best rap is gangsta rap.

I hate gangster rap. Its shit. Record labels should require all rappers to actually know music theory, or be able to play music. Instead they capitalize on these street rats that hold a good image.

My favorite is their music videos that show them throwing money around as if they've always been rich. Fast forward 3 years and they're flat broke. Oh well, back to slinging crack.

It's hard to call it artistic music. Anymore its all "sampling". Which is stealing someone else's beats and rapping to them. Fucking hate that shit.

Music is dead/dying in the mainstream scene, which includes a lot of gangster rap. 90 percent of the songs don't even have real instruments playing. It's all computer-made garbage.

Fuck, Josh Groban has more musical talent in his ass-lint than most rappers out there. At least he can compose music.
