But seriously, I would love to hear your opinions (especially gwb) on the economic situation in Iceland. Last October, like the rest of the world, their banks went to shit and they ended up getting 10 billion dollars from the IMF to "stabilize" the situation. The whole reason they are in this mess is because they invested all their money from the boom of the 90's into foreign assets- like the Royal Bank of Scotland- which eventually tanked bigtime. Inflation has hit almost 20% in recent months.

Suffice to say, these pasty white fishermen are pretty pissed. They actually started rioting in the streets a while back, calling for a new parliament. Well, they got it, and apparently Bea Arthur is at the helm. Historically Iceland has had a love/hate relationship with continental Europe, but their new policy seems to be "join the EU".

Many of you gents know more about global economics than I, so I'd love to hear your opinion on this microcosm of a nation. (pop. 300,000, seriously)
