Just watched the Daily Show and saw that the puppeteer who portrays Elmo from the sesame street show is a very large and scary black man. I don't know why I always pictured Elmo as being a 4'8" Korean bitch.
I am so fucking disillusioned right now. Eh, probably the narcotics I'm on. |

As technology continues to increase, the ability to create animations that look quite realistic is starting to become astounding. CG movies are pretty god damned impressive these days.
Soon, it will likely be difficult to tell the difference between a CG film and its real life counterpart. We can already do this with still pictures, for fuck sake. The thought: Once we can create photo-realistic video, it would, in theory, be possible to make a video of anyone doing anything (or, at least, a video that is identical to a video of anyone doing anything). A Betty White sex tape? No problem. Obama fucking a goat? Sure! The world is your oyster. The question: Will this be legal? If not, where will the line be drawn? One can make this type of art but not pass it off as genuine? Seems like a good place to draw it, but also allows for some fancy wording to get around that. |

Posting a mess without tidying up, none of this makes sense, hopefully it will tomorrow. I think quantum cryptography could be used to spot fake/edited videos/photos/whatever, and it looks like there's been some progress
Attached is the paper in this weeks nature magazine "The ultimate physical limits of privacy" it takes the 20 year old babble i'm trying to understand below further. Quote:
Thought about laws on file size, maybe making it illegal to create something so ultra-realistic that the best computer wouldn't be able to spot the fake, it wouldn't take much to trick us as we are now. Super-minds would probably be pissed off with how pixelated the holograms are and demand better rez. Uncertainty principle to the rescue? size 1 = bollocks Alice is randomly sending polarized photons that can exist in one of two spin states /,\,) and ( (I thought photons only had two spin states, not sure how they get four -I'm right, the surrounding stuff is bollocks!) through one of two filters + or x, only /\ can pass through the + filter, )( through the x filter. She notes down both the spin state sent and the filter that corresponds to that spin state used. example : /\)\(/\)(\/\\/) Filters would be ++x+x++xx+++++x Alice ->->->-Evesdropping cunt->->->- Bob Bob doesn't know which filter to use to detect the photon so he chooses randomly, choosing the correct filter half the time and the wrong filter (which will give the correct answer half the time) the other half of the time, 75% of bobs results should be correct. he notes down his results : (\/\\/) They call each other to discuss bobs findings Quote:

Nick Bostrom doesn't think we're living in a simulation btw.
This could be the end for quantum key cryptography, mind boggling. A few wiki links related to weak measurement. Weak measurement - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Lev Vaidman - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia v not really related but interdasting Two-state vector formalism - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia |

Psychedelics are illegal not because a loving government is concerned that you may jump out of a third story window. Psychedelics are illegal because they dissolve opinion structures and culturally laid down models of behavior and information processing.
